Schwickert's celebrates 100th anniversary

NRCA member Schwickert's Inc., Mankato, Minn., a Tecta America company, is celebrating its 100th anniversary with community initiatives and employee recognition.

In addition to contributing volunteer time, services and donations to local organizations, Schwickert's will host a grand reopening of its new facility in Mankato and contribute to Habitat for Humanity's 2006 projects. The company also will recognize its staff members for their many contributions.

Elk expands product line

Dallas-based Elk Premium Building Products Inc., through the acquisition of RGM Products Inc., Fresno, Calif., has expanded its product line to offer several products from the RGM Products line. New offerings include the hip and ridge shingle Ridglass,® Icegard™ All-Climate Self-Adhering Underlayment and Kwikwrap,™ a self-adhering and flexible flashing, among other products.

Company representatives say the products chosen were the best from the line.

Johns Manville Roofing Systems Group has appointed Lisa Buenzli director of marketing.

Jason Mooney has joined W.P. Hickman Co. as a regional sales manager.

ARCOM elects 2006 officers

The Associated Roofing Contractors of Maryland (ARCOM) has announced its newly elected officers for 2006. Terms began Jan. 12.

Dave Taylor, president of F.A. Taylor & Son Inc., Baltimore, was elected president. Howard Willis, secretary/treasurer of Krupnik Brothers, Glen Burnie, Md., was elected vice president. Bruce Tabler, vice president of Roofers Inc., Baltimore, was elected secretary. Rod Everett, vice president and general manager of Master Roofers Inc., Hagerstown, Md., was elected treasurer.

RCMA announces new leadership

The Roof Coatings Manufacturers Association (RCMA) has elected and installed its 2006 officers.

Chris Salazar, vice president of sales & marketing for Karnak Corp., Clark, N.J., was elected president; Brian Anthony, vice president of industrial products for The Brewer Co., Milford, Ohio, was elected vice president, long-range planning; Joseph Mellott, vice president of technology for Momentum Technologies Inc., Uniontown, Ohio, was elected vice president, member services; and W.J. "Skip" Leonard, director of technical services for Henry Co., Garland, Texas, was elected secretary-treasurer.

In addition, RCMA named Donald W. Meeker, president and chief executive officer of Central Fiber Corp., Wellsville, Kan., as the recipient of the Martin A. Davis RCMA Industry Leadership Award. The award is the highest honor given by RCMA.

ASTM to hold symposium

ASTM Committee D08 on Roofing and Waterproofing will sponsor the Sixth Symposium on Roofing Research and Standards Development on Dec. 2, 2007. The event will be held at the Tampa Marriott Waterside in Tampa, Fla., with the committee's standards development meetings Dec. 2-5, 2007.

The symposium will emphasize current research and development work. Presenters and authors are invited to submit abstracts online via ASTM International's Web site, www.astm.org, and commit to submit manuscripts to the Journal of ASTM International by May 1.
