CertainTeed products join HOVER product library

CertainTeed Corp., Valley Forge, Pa., has announced its roofing and siding products now are available as options in online home design platform HOVER's product library.

Contractors can use HOVER to receive interactive 3-D models and exterior measurements of buildings to create estimates. The models also can be shared with homeowners to show them what specific CertainTeed products and colors will look like on their houses.

ATAS International announces award recipients

ATAS International Inc., Allentown, Pa., has announced Tim Coughlan, inside technical salesperson for eastern Pennsylvania; Mike Krahling, product representative for eastern Pennsylvania; and Eric Samley, inside technical salesperson for eastern Pennsylvania, received ATAS International's annual Malan S. Parker Award. The award recognizes the company's top sales team for the year. Coughlan and Samley were recognized for their overall sales growth within the territory and observance of corporate goals and objectives. Krahling was recognized for educating customers about how metal components can contribute to a project and helping train new product representatives.

In addition, ATAS International was awarded a 2018 Top Workplace by Pennsylvania newspaper The Morning Call for a third consecutive year. The Morning Call ranks local companies based on the results of an employee feedback survey administered by Energage, a research firm specializing in organizational health and workplace improvement. Employees are invited to share feedback regarding several aspects of their workplace culture, such as leadership and employee engagement, which then are used to determine Top Workplace recipients.

West Roofing Systems acquires Foam Applications

West Roofing Systems Inc., LaGrange, Ohio, has acquired Foam Applications Inc., a Huntsville, Ala.-based spray polyurethane foam roofing contractor.

Foam Applications will be known as West Roofing Systems; the transition will occur during a six-month period. The acquisition enables West Roofing Systems to expand its service offerings and better meet the needs of customers in the Southeast region.

PetersenDean Roofing & Solar acquires Haleakala Solar

PetersenDean Roofing & Solar, Fremont, Calif., has acquired Haleakala Solar, Hawaii's largest solar and battery installer.

Hawaii is a leader in renewable energy use, and Haleakala Solar has been installing photovoltaic solar and water heating systems for more than 40 years. PetersenDean Roofing & Solar plans to add roof installations to Haleakala Solar's offerings during the first quarter of the transition. Haleakala Solar operates on three Hawaiian Islands and will expand to a fourth island during 2018. The acquisition makes PetersenDean Roofing & Solar the nation's largest publicly and privately held roofing and solar company.

Convoy Supply opens distribution center

Convoy Supply, Surrey, British Columbia, has opened a new distribution facility in Capitol Heights, Md.

The 15,000-square-foot facility will supply roofing, waterproofing, insulation and wall cladding products for nonresidential construction. A SOPREMA® Inc. contractor training center also is contained within the facility, offering contractors courses regarding product specifications and application for full building envelopes. The 1,350-square-foot classroom also will be available for local contractors and architects to use for industry meetings and training sessions. Convoy Supply now has 44 locations in North America.

ABC Supply sponsors Lee Greenwood tour bus

ABC Supply Co. Inc., Beloit, Wis., has entered into a sponsorship with country singer Lee Greenwood.

ABC Supply founders Ken and Diane Hendricks included "American pride" as one of ABC Supply's seven core values. Every ABC Supply company gathering concludes with Greenwood's song "God Bless the U.S.A." In 2017, ABC Supply invited Greenwood to sing at the company's annual ABC Supply National Managers' Meeting, where it became apparent the singer and the company share the same principles of liberty, community and pride in being Americans. ABC Supply now is sponsoring Greenwood's tour bus during his 2018 national tour.

"It's always true that policy and direction come from the top," Greenwood says. "After meeting Diane Hendricks and ABC Supply president and CEO Keith Rozolis, it was obvious the love of America was not manufactured. NEMEON recognizes Preferred Vendors

NEMEON Inc., a Woodbury, Minn.-based cooperative of independent roofing and siding distributors, named its Preferred Vendors of the year during its 2018 annual meeting Feb. 19-22 in Orlando, Fla.

Two vendors traditionally are selected to receive the distinction; NRCA members Carlisle WIP Products, Carlisle, Pa., and CertainTeed Corp., Valley Forge, Pa., were honored this year. Carlisle WIP Products was recognized for its strong commitment to supporting independent roofing contractors. CertainTeed was honored for a second consecutive year in recognition of its exemplary efforts to support NEMEON.

A.C.T. Metal Deck Supply announces sweepstakes winner

A.C.T. Metal Deck Supply, Aurora, Ill., announced NRCA member Dixie Roofing Inc., La Follette, Tenn., as the grand-prize winner of its Cubs & Cruise Chicago Weekend Sweepstakes during the 2018 International Roofing Expo® in New Orleans.

The sweepstakes was open to companies that purchased a metal deck from A.C.T. Metal Deck Supply during February-December 2017. The grand prize includes four roundtrip airfares to Chicago, transportation, hotel accommodations for two nights, tickets to a Chicago Cubs baseball game at Wrigley Field and a private yacht cruise on Lake Michigan. The sweepstakes generated such excitement, second- and third-prize categories were announced. Structural Components Fabrication Inc., Martinsville, Ind., won second place and received tickets to a local sporting event. RCMA presents annual awards

The Roof Coatings Manufacturers Association (RCMA) distributed two awards during its annual meeting Feb. 4-5 in New Orleans.

RCMA's prestigious Martin A. Davis Award was presented to Helene Hardy Pierce, vice president of technical services, codes and industry relations for NRCA member GAF, Parsippany, N.J. An RCMA past president, Hardy Pierce currently is on the association's board of directors. She was recognized for her advocacy efforts on behalf of RCMA. The association's James "Tim" Nelligan Industry Statesman Award was presented to Greg Johnson, research and development director of regulatory affairs for KST Coatings, a division of Sherwin Williams, Twinsburg, Ohio, in recognition of his ongoing engagement in advocacy efforts regarding key issues affecting the roof coatings industry at the state and federal levels. Johnson currently serves as co-chair of the RCMA Government Affairs Committee.

In addition, RCMA elected Brian Anthony, president of NRCA member The Brewer Co., Wickliffe, Ohio, and Ariel Lender, director of product management and codes and compliance for NRCA member Polyglass U.S.A. Inc., Deerfield Beach, Fla., to its board of directors for the 2018-21 term.

The Alliance welcomes new member

The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress has announced CYE Enterprises Inc., Jacksonville, Fla., has joined at the Governor level.

The Alliance was established in 1996 within the National Roofing Foundation to create an endowment fund to serve as a resource for the roofing industry and its customers. The Alliance now has 165 members.

METALCON games registration is open

The Metal Construction Association (MCA) is accepting registrations for its fifth annual Metal Roofing Championship Games to be held during METALCON Oct. 10-12 in Charlotte, N.C. MCA is seeking 10 teams of two participants each for the competition; each team should be from one company and plan to attend METALCON during all three days.

Contestants' metal roofing skills will be tested during five challenges held during each of the first two days of the event. Five teams will compete for cash awards each day. On the third day, the two teams with the most collective points will compete for the grand cash award and the title of "MCA METALCON 2018 National Metal Roofing Champion."

Challenges include a Retrofit Panel Installation Challenge, a Screw Gun Challenge, a Hug-A-Roof Challenge, a Standing Seam Challenge and a Let It Snow challenge. Each team will be provided the required power and hand tools, gloves and safety glasses, and contestants will be required to wear rubber sole, nonslip shoes.

Future Executives Institute is accepting applications

NRCA University is accepting applications for its next three-year Future Executives Institute (FEI) program; NRCA members receive a discount on tuition.

FEI is a comprehensive learning experience focusing on leading and managing a successful roofing business. The program offers participants an in-depth look at management theory and practice, a unique industry networking opportunity, and development of leadership and communication skills. Courses are held at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management in Chicago and taught by Northwestern University professors, industry leaders and field experts. Class size is limited to allow for in-depth discussions and relationship building during the program; only 30 spaces are available.
