CertainTeed underlayment now is customizable

CertainTeed Corp., Malvern, Pa., has announced contractors now can customize CertainTeed's RoofRunner™ underlayment with a company's logo on the face of underlayment sheets. RoofRunner is a lightweight, synthetic polymer-based underlayment for asphalt shingles.

A company's logo can be displayed on 24- by 42-inch print areas across the length of each sheet, providing 1,000 square feet of advertising space per roll. Logos can be printed in up to three colors; a minimum order of four pallets (196 rolls) is required. Additional information is available by clicking here.

In addition, CertainTeed co-sponsored the 2018 Hispanic Contractors Association of the Carolinas (HCAC) Gala & Brilliance Awards Aug. 3 at the Historic Royal Bakery building in Raleigh, N.C. The annual event celebrates the accomplishments of Hispanic and minority contractors in the Carolinas.

"CertainTeed acknowledges that many of the people using our products everyday represent the Hispanic community," says Alex Pecora, director of product management for CertainTeed Roofing. "We support HCAC's efforts to celebrate and award diversity in the construction industry."

The gala featured several notable speakers, and awards were presented to honor companies and individuals dedicated to the long-term success, economic growth and business development of Hispanic and minority-owned construction companies in North Carolina and South Carolina. The celebration also featured live music and entertainment representative of several cultures.

Owens Corning partners with Modernize

Owens Corning, Toledo, Ohio, has partnered with home improvement lead-generation company Modernize Inc., Austin, Texas, to make available an exclusive lead-generation program to Owens Corning Roofing Contractor Network members.

The program is designed to simplify the sales process for roofing contractors by creating inbound campaigns using inbound calls and instant appointments. Owens Corning collaborated with Modernize for a pilot program that used a sample set of inbound calls and appointments. Following the pilot program's success, Modernize tailored the program for Owens Corning Roofing Contractor Network members. Member contractors now can use Modernize's inbound calls and appointments to reduce their workloads and increase their sales while providing a seamless experience for homeowners.

TAMKO® Building Products introduces Rick the Roofer

TAMKO Building Products Inc., Joplin, Mo., has introduced Rick the Roofer, also known as Field Sales Training Manager Rick Taylor, as a new traveling resource for roofing industry professionals.

A TAMKO Building Products expert with nearly 50 years of roofing industry experience, Rick the Roofer will travel nationwide in a truck and trailer with portable product displays and equipment for product installation demonstrations. He will appear at dealers, distributors and industry trade events to educate roofing contractors about TAMKO Building Products' products and conduct installation training.

TAMKO Building Products hosted a kick-off event for Rick the Roofer's first national roadshow July 24 in Joplin. The event featured live demonstrations from Rick, as well as TAMKO Building Product gear and product giveaways.

IKO Industries gifts new truck

IKO Industries, Kankakee, Ill., has gifted a new Dodge Ram 1500 truck to C&K Roofing Inc., Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, through IKO Industries' PRO4 Plus promotion.

C&K Roofing achieved the highest milestone in PRO4 Plus by using more than 20,000 roofing squares and three of the four qualifying IKO Industries PRO4 roofing components on roofing projects during 2017. The PRO4 Plus promotion continues during 2018, giving roofing contractors an opportunity to receive rebates and cash bonuses based on the amount of IKO Industries PRO4 roofing squares and other roofing components used during the year.

GCP Applied Technologies donates roof underlayment

GCP Applied Technologies Inc., Cambridge, Mass., donated roof underlayment to HOPE Agua Vita, a humanitarian mission team, to support the ongoing rebuilding and new construction of homes for families impacted by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.

HOPE Agua Vita helps rebuild homes in hurricane-prone regions where storm damage has left people in need. After Hurricane Maria caused monumental damage in September 2017, HOPE Agua Vita sent a team to the village of San Lorenzo to assess damage and set goals for a long-term recovery. GCP Applied Technologies donated ICE & WATER SHIELD® self-adhering roofing underlayment to support HOPE Agua Vita's mission and help rebuild and protect homes from future damage.

"A big part of our mission involves training local community members on advanced building skills to make their homes more hurricane resistant," says Doug Tarry, mission leader for HOPE Agua Vita. "We look forward to continuing our work with GCP Applied Technologies and our other industry partners in developing more hurricane-resistant construction techniques that are repeatable, sustainable and affordable."

Atlas® Roofing acquires ACH Foam Technologies

Atlas Roofing Corp., Atlanta, has acquired ACH Foam Technologies, a Westminster, Colo.-based manufacturer of molded polystyrene solutions.

The acquisition enables Atlas Roofing to expand its product offerings and add new technology to its expanded polystyrene foam manufacturing process.

ABC Supply acquires New Jersey distributor

ABC Supply Co. Inc., Beloit, Wis., has acquired the assets of exterior building materials distributor Landis Supply, Vineland, N.J.

The acquisition will add a sixth ABC Supply location in the state from which the company will offer a variety of roofing products to local contractors.

SEIA welcomes PetersenDean Roofing & Solar

The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) has announced NRCA member PetersenDean Roofing & Solar, Fremont, Calif., a roofing and solar power contractor, joined SEIA's board of directors. Gary Liardon, president—consumer group nationwide for PetersenDean Roofing & Solar, will serve as a director.

"We are thrilled to have the leadership of PetersenDean Roofing & Solar on our board of directors," said Abigail Ross Hopper, president and CEO of SEIA. Designed to help users promote and grow their residential metal roofing businesses, the tool kit contains table tents, yard signs, literature, infographics, videos and advertisements. Owens Corning has uploaded a new video, "Roofing: How Contractors Can Use Color for In-Home Selling." The video features mother and daughter duo Karen Laine and Mina Starsiak from the HGTV show "Good Bones" and offers tips for roofing contractors about how to have a "color conversation" with homeowners. Laine and Starsiak suggest questions contractors can ask homeowners during sales calls and provide tips for engaging homeowners when selecting shingle colors.
