Ready, set, draw!

NRCA will be celebrating National Roofing Week July 7-11 during its annual Midyear Meetings in Chicago. The week will honor the industry's positive works, share the story of the industry with the national media and feature the theme "Everybody needs a roof."

To build excitement for the week, NRCA is sponsoring an art contest for children whose relatives are employed by NRCA contractor members. The contest is open to children in grades 1-8 during the 2013-14 school year. Entrants will be asked to submit original artwork depicting why roofs are important. Submissions will be placed in three categories: grades 1-3, 4-6 and 7-8.

Finalists' artwork will be placed on NRCA's website, and all visitors to the website will be able to vote for their favorite in each category. One winner from each category will be named, and his or her artwork will be used in promotional material for National Roofing Week, as well as highlighted in NRCA's booth during the 2015 International Roofing Expo® in New Orleans. Winners also will be able to choose a $100 gift certificate from among several national retailers.

For the contest to be a success, NRCA needs members to show their pride in the industry and encourages you to ask your employees to involve their children, nieces, nephews and grandchildren in the contest.

As Pablo Picasso said: "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up."

The deadline for submissions is June 2; winners will be announced June 30. Complete contest rules, as well as an entry form, are available on www.nrca.net/artcontest.
