NRCA announces 2011-12 board of directors

NRCA announced its 2011-12 slate of officers and directors at its 124th Annual Convention held Feb. 14-18 in Las Vegas. The directors will begin their three-year terms June 1. For a list of the new officers, see "Major payout," page 34.

NRCA and ARMA release asphalt shingle booklet

NRCA and the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA) have released Quality Control Guidelines for the Application of Asphalt Shingle Roof Systems. The booklet is intended to provide guidance, based on technical knowledge from experienced asphalt shingle manufacturers and installers, for the on-site evaluation of asphalt shingle roof system applications.

The booklet provides visual examination evaluation criteria for a roof substrate surface, underlayment, drip edge, fasteners, asphalt shingles and flashings.

NRCA has made Planning & Installing Photovoltaic Systems: A guide for installers, architects and engineers, written by Deutsche Gesellshaft Für Sonnenenergie, available in its online bookstore, shop.nrca.net.

Used by photovoltaic (PV) installers, engineers and architects, the guide details subjects necessary for successful project implementation, including technical design and legal and market issues associated with PV system installation. The guide begins with resource assessment and an outline of core components and provides information about system design, economic analysis, installation, operation and PV system maintenance.

NRCA is offering a 60 percent discount on The NRCA Roofing Manual: Metal Panel and SPF Roof Systems—2008.
