NRCA and the center launch RISE

NRCA and the Center for Environmental Innovation in Roofing have launched Roof Integrated Solar Energy (RISE) Inc., a professional credentialing entity designed for roofing professionals who wish to demonstrate their skills, knowledge and experience with rooftop photovoltaic (PV) systems.

Individuals who successfully complete the requirements set out by RISE will receive the Certified Solar Roofing Professional (CSRP) credential. The credential will be based on performance and proficiency, and candidates will be asked to demonstrate basic knowledge about different PV system types and key components, benefits and risks applicable to building owners, PV systems' integration with electricity, installation guidelines, building codes and post-installation considerations. The RISE CSRP certification is a voluntary certification for professionals who plan and oversee the installation of PV systems on roofs.

Callback: In "It's not fair!" July issue, page 46, the federal minimum wage was listed as $8.25 per hour when, in fact, it is $7.25 per hour. In addition, in "A culture of safety," July issue, page 30, it was reported that KPost Co., Dallas, spends $10,000 per year on safety. The company actually spends $100,000 per year on safety. Professional Roofing regrets the errors.
