Sealant aids roof repairs

RM Lucas has introduced Lucas #9500 Single-Ply Sealant, a one-component polyurethane sealant for roof system construction and restoration.

The sealant is designed for the construction of liquid flashing systems and sealing pitch pockets and pans, metal roof seams and fasteners, polyurethane foam, and PVC and EPDM roof systems. The sealant is said to have semi-self-leveling properties that enable it to be used to seal seams and perform repairs on single-ply membranes at any slope. Lucas #9500 Single-Ply Sealant is available in white or black and packaged 12 tubes per case.

Adhesive has extended open time

Mule-Hide Products Co. Inc. has introduced EPDM x-23 Low-VOC Bonding Adhesive designed to quickly bond EPDM membranes with porous or nonporous substrates for a waterproof seal.

EPDM x-23 Low-VOC Bonding Adhesive can be applied to a substrate using a 9-inch medium-nap roller and reportedly has an extended open time ideal for working with larger EPDM sheets. The adhesive's solvent blend flashes off rapidly, decreasing the chance solvents will be trapped under the membrane and cause blistering. Formulated with a low-volatile organic compound content, the adhesive meets ozone-related regulations.

Shingles have improved tear-strength

IKO has introduced Ultra HP® High Profile Ridge Cap Shingles designed to offer roofline protection and enhanced aesthetics.

The shingles feature multilayer construction and a polymer-modified asphalt coating said to improve tear-strength. The shingles' 8 1/4-inch exposure reportedly provides greater coverage than traditional ridge cap shingles, and the preformed, rolled design of the shingles has a curved edge that doesn't require cutting or folding. The shingles are available in 16 colors said to match most IKO residential roofing shingles.

Solar system is integrated

GAF has introduced its DecoTech™ Roof-Integrated Solar System as an alternative to traditional rack-mounted solar roof panels.

The DecoTech Roof-Integrated Solar System integrates solar technology with residential roof systems by incorporating solar panels directly into a roof system. The system's premium metal-framed solar panels are said to optimize power output. Counterflashing, stepflashing and a black perimeter shield create a monochromatic profile and help prevent moisture and animal intrusion.
