Fascia provides variety

Metal-Era Inc. has added Hi-Perf Vented Fascia to its Metal-Era Airflow Solutions line. The fascia is designed for commercial buildings and said to provide maximum airflow at a roof's eave.

Hi-Perf Vented Fascia is available in vented nailbase and attic-vented versions and reportedly requires no wood blocking or vented soffits. The fastening holes on Hi-Perf Vented Fascia's roof flange and cover are preslotted and said to allow for thermal movement and proper fastening location. The fascia is available in various sizes, colors and finishes and can be customized.

Pipe support protects roof membrane

MIRO Industries Inc. has introduced its 3-R-4 roller-bearing pipe support, which can be used to support roof-mounted gas pipes, electrical conduit, solar piping and other mechanical piping. Each pipe support provides 4 inches of clearance above a roof surface.

Each 3-R-4 pipe support can hold up to 100 pounds and accommodate a 3 3/4-inch outside diameter pipe. The pipe support's roller, rod and seat are constructed from polycarbonate and said to be durable. The 3-R-4 pipe support's deck base is 7 3/4 inches square; the top of the roller device is 4 inches high; and the top of the cradle is 4 inches high. The pipe support is said to absorb pipes' thermal expansion and contraction and protect roof membranes.

Glasses reduce eye strain

Gateway Safety Inc. has introduced its StarLite® MAG and Scorpion® MAG bi­focal safety glasses, which are available in 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 diopter strengths and reportedly allow wearers to focus on nearby objects.

StarLite MAG's lenses are made of 100 percent hard-coated polycarbonate and available in clear and gray. The protective bifocal eyewear is said to provide full brow protection and reportedly is lightweight, cost-effective and comfortable.

Roof board is recyclable

Knight-Celotex has introduced its Structodek® TD,™ a composite roof board that is said to be fire-retardant and recyclable.

Structodek TD is designed for use with low-slope roof systems and reportedly bonds to asphalt, coal tar and cold-process adhesives. The roof board reportedly can be used as insulation board or cover board or over existing roofing materials, including single-ply, polymer-modified bitumen, built-up, hybrid, self-adhering, spray polyurethane foam and liquid membranes. Structodek TD reportedly contains no fiberglass and can be cut with a utility knife. The roof board is available in various sizes and thicknesses and is said to be lightweight.

Underlayment is versatile

Johns Manville has introduced its Dura­Base™ hybrid asphalt-coated polyester roof underlayment material, which is intended for use as a foundation for residential roof systems and reportedly can be installed under all roof covering types.

DuraBase reportedly does not support mold or fungus growth, has a 250 F fire rating and can withstand extended exposure to ultraviolet light. The underlayment is said to be lightweight, waterproof and slip-resistant.

Cap sheets are environmentally friendly

Mule-Hide® Products Co. Inc. has introduced its KoolCap™ Self-Adhering Mod Bit cap sheets, which are available in APP and SBS polymer-modified bitumen formulations and reportedly install quickly and easily.

KoolCap cap sheets' top surface consists of white granules, which are said to provide high levels of reflectivity and emissivity without the need for a separate factory-applied coating. The cap sheets are manufactured with Mule-Hide Products' Adeso® self-adhering technology and reportedly adhere without hot asphalt or open flames. Insulation adhesive is self-contained

The Garland® Co. Inc. has introduced Insul-Lock® HR, a self-contained, two-component, foamable roof insulation adhesive.

Insul-Lock HR reportedly can be applied quickly, easily and cleanly. It is said to reduce installation times and labor costs. The insulation adhesive is solvent-free and complies with volatile organic compound regulations. Because of its high-rise capability, Insul-Lock HR reportedly allows for adhesion over many surface irregularities and can be applied over properly prepared gravel surfaces without the use of fasteners.

Additionally, The Garland Co. has introduced its StressPly® IV Plus line of torch-applied roof membranes, which feature polyester and fiberglass scrim and are said to be strong. The membranes are available with smooth and mineral surfaces, as well as a cool-white ultraviolet mineral surface. StressPly IV Plus requires no hot kettles and provides tensile and tear strength.

Ridge vent reduces cooling costs

Trimline® Building Products has introduced its Trimline VariaVent, a variable ridge vent solution for tile roof system applications, and Trimline VariaBlock,™ an aluminum variable closure solution for tile and metal roof system applications.

RubberGuard EcoWhite EPDM is a 60-mil-thick, fully adhered reflective membrane that can be used with Firestone Building Products' EcoWhite accessories. The membrane is said to be flexible and easy to install and reduce labor and material costs.

Additionally, Firestone Building Products has introduced its UNA-CLAD™ UC-14 Roofing System, a metal roof system with an interlocking design that is said to require no mechanical seaming or separate battens.

Shingle samples are customizable

CertainTeed Corp. has introduced its HDi SwatchBoards,™ a line of in-home marketing tools that display CertainTeed's asphalt shingles.

SwatchBoards contain no actual asphalt shingles and use a high-definition imaging technology to replicate traditional asphalt shingle sample boards. Each board weighs 1 1/2 pounds, is double-sided and can be customized to include roofing contractors' business information and CertainTeed credentials.

Additionally, CertainTeed has introduced its CertaSpec™ Software, which is said to help roofing professionals quickly write low- and steep-slope roofing specifications for job submittal packages.

CertaSpec Software features on-screen instructions and live updates. The software is said to be easy to use and save time.
