Waterproofing system is eco-friendly

SOPREMA Inc. has developed its MAMMOUTH Neo,® an eco-friendly waterproofing system for use on new construction and reroofing projects.

The MAMMOUTH Neo waterproofing system is made of two lightweight layers: MAMMOUTH Neo Base SI, a self-adhering layer, and MAMMOUTH Neo Cap, a self-protected second layer. The system reportedly is composed of an elastomer made from organically sourced raw materials, using 30 percent fewer nonrenewable resources than traditional membranes. The MAMMOUTH Neo system can be applied to concrete, wood and steel substrates and is said to withstand weathering elements longer and contribute to a healthier building environment.

Vegetative roof systems offer benefits

Firestone Building Products Co. LLC has expanded its SkyScape™ Vegetative Roof System product portfolio to include four vegetative roof systems for commercial buildings.

The SkyScape Pregrown Modular System is composed of 100 percent recycled high-density polypropylene modules with moisture-retention reservoirs to manage stormwater and 1 3/4 inches of space beneath the modules to encourage air flow. The modules reportedly interlock on all four sides to resist wind uplift.

The SkyScape Extensive System is based on the single-roll 1/2-inch SkyScape Drainage Panel and is said to be ideal for creating a meadow-like vegetative roof capable of providing effective stormwater management.

The SkyScape Semi-Intensive System features a 6- to 8-inch growing media depth capable of accommodating more plant diversity and reportedly can be used with the single-roll 1/2-inch or 1-inch SkyScape Drainage Panel.

The SkyScape Intensive System is based on the single-roll 1-inch SkyScape Drainage Panel and has an 8-inch or greater growing media depth capable of hosting a wide variety of plants, including shrubs and small trees.

The four roof systems reportedly meet ANSI and SPRI RP-14 design guidelines for wind-uplift resistance; protect roofing materials from ultraviolet and heat stress degradation; enhance air quality; and extend the service life of the underlying roof system.

Mini-impact wrenches are lightweight

PROTO® Industrial Tools has introduced two lightweight mini-impact wrenches: a 3/8-inch Mini Impact Wrench and a 1/2-inch Mini Impact Wrench. With a length of 4.4 inches and a weight of 2.9 pounds, both mini-impact wrenches are optimized for use in confined spaces to break loose and fasten bolts.

The 3/8-inch Mini Impact Wrench is said to have 445 foot-pounds of breakaway torque, and the 1/2-inch Mini Impact Wrench is said to have 635 foot-pounds of breakaway torque. Both wrenches are compatible with PROTO Industrial Tools' line of impact sockets and drive tools.

Gloves provide cut protection

Brass Knuckle® has introduced SmartCut™ BKCR3520 gloves with ANSI Level 3 cut protection to its SmartCut line of hand-protection products. The gloves are designed to provide medium-level cut protection along with a high level of dexterity and slip resistance.

The SmartCut BKCR3520 gloves feature a seamless shell made of 15-gauge polyethylene composite yarn to deliver cut protection while maintaining flexibility and a durable nitrile coating on the palm and fingers to channel oil away from the surface to maximize slip resistance. A reinforced thumb crotch reportedly reduces the effect of abrasion on the coating between the thumb and forefinger, an area prone to significant wear and tear.

Membrane seals out air and vapor

Mule-Hide® Products has introduced the F1™ Air & Vapor Barrier designed to create an airtight and vapor-tight seal between a low-slope roof system and a building.

The 40-mil-thick barrier membrane consists of 35 millimeters of self-adhering rubberized asphalt to reduce moisture movement through a roof system and a 5-mil-thick woven polypropylene film to make the membrane resistant to tears and punctures. The membrane rolls are 39 inches wide and 75 feet long, capable of covering about 244 square feet of substrate surface, and the membrane's nonskid surface is said to increase contractor safety.

The F1 Air & Vapor Barrier reportedly is compatible with a variety of roof systems and can be used on primed substrates including concrete, plywood, exterior gypsum, DensDeck® Prime and SECUROCK.® The barrier membrane also can temporarily serve as a roof for up to 120 days as work on the finished roof system is completed.
