Georgia Boot® has made available Amplitude and Hammer HD, two new work boot collections designed for comfort. Amplitude work boots feature a high-performance interior mesh lining, Georgia Waterproof System and durable rubber toe and heel protection, as well as an Advanced Memory Polyurethane insole and an oil- and slip-resistant outer sole. Hammer HD work boots reportedly are ideal for rugged job sites and feature a wider toe box, Georgia Waterproof System and abrasion-resistant heel covering, as well as Georgia Boot's Comfort Core 5 insole and an outer sole that won't leave marks and resists abrasion, chemicals, heat and oil. Boots in both collections are made from full-grain leather and have an ergonomically fit composite safety toe said to fit the contours of the foot for comfort and flexibility.

Lightweight self-rescue unit

3M™ has introduced DBI-SALA Self-Rescue 50, a self-rescue unit featuring a universal harness attachment. The flexible, lightweight device allows a user to lower himself or herself to the ground after a fall. An EZ-Link™ D-ring serves as a quick connection point for lanyards or personal self-retracting lifelines, and an assisted rescue ring reportedly enables remote access and deployment by a co-worker if the user is incapable of activating the device. DBI-SALA Self-Rescue 50 comes with a 50-foot rope; lengths up to 100 feet also are available.

A Velcro® roof system

OmniMax has introduced the OmniMax Roofing System, which uses industrial-strength hook-and-loop Velcro to fasten a shingle's entire surface to a roof deck. The OmniMax Roofing System can be installed with cutting tools and does not penetrate roof decks. Made of 60 percent recycled material, the system reportedly can resist high winds and impacts, has no minimum or maximum temperature requirements for installation, and will not curl over time.

Shake and slate shingles come in many colors

CertainTeed Corp. has introduced Arcadia Shake® shingles and Belmont™ asphalt shingles. Arcadia Shake shingles are made from four layers of asphalt, replicate classic wood shakes, are Class A fire-rated and available in a variety of colors. Belmont asphalt shingles are available in six colors said to imitate the depth and dimension of natural slate. Belmont shingles reportedly are wind- and fire-resistant and available in a Class IV impact-resistant version.

Lightweight panel system

R-50 Systems LLC has introduced Rich-E-Board,™ a 1 1/2-inch-thick insulated composite panel system said to provide an R-value of 50. Rich-E-Board's lightweight design includes R-50 Systems' Vacuum Insulated Panel, two polymeric foam cover boards on both sides of the panel, and adhesive ribbons that bind the cover boards and panel together. The mold- and fire-resistant system reportedly can be installed on most roof decks and support all conventional low-slope roof systems.

Silicone coating levels rough surfaces

Progressive Materials LLC has introduced its Pro-Level SL 800 Surface Leveling Coating. The self-leveling 100 percent silicone coating is designed for use as a surface-leveler for roofing projects with surfaces too rough or uneven to apply a traditional roof coating. The coating reportedly will migrate to the lowest parts of gravel built-up roof systems and fill cracks in smooth-surfaced built-up roof systems. The coating can be rolled on or applied with a heavy-duty airless spray unit.

PipeGuard made for smaller pipes

OMG Roofing Products has introduced its Strut Model Safety Yellow PipeGuard with an integrated roller for applications requiring pipes with 4-inch or smaller diameters. Made from 100 percent recycled HDPE, the Strut Model Safety Yellow PipeGuard features a 10-inch-wide triangular base said to shed water and provide strength and stability for increased load capacity. The integrated roller is designed to accommodate horizontal pipe movement caused by thermal expansion and contraction and can be adjusted from 5 1/2 to 11 inches high to accommodate most rooftop pipes. The Strut Model Safety Yellow PipeGuard reportedly is compatible with all commercial roofing materials.

Simcoach Skill Arcade has made available its Harness Hero mobile game. Developed under the guidance of construction industry safety professionals, the game is said to test players' knowledge of fall-protection topics. At each step in the game, a player makes a decision regarding fall protection, such as where to anchor and how to set up a harness, and performs equipment inspections. At the end of a play, the player encounters a fall and witnesses either a rescue or injury based on how well he or she set up the fall-arrest system.
