System replaces wood nailers

The W.P. Hickman Co. has introduced its EdgeBox Perimeter Metal Blocking System, which features a two-piece slotted design that replaces traditional wood blocking or nailers at the perimeter of low-slope roof systems and reportedly can be used with a wide range of roof and insulation systems.

EdgeBox Perimeter Metal Blocking System attaches to a roof deck and is used with W.P. Hickman's fascia profiles. The product's rigid box-shaped profile reportedly acts as a retainer for lightweight concrete or rigid insulation. The system is available with or without a cant to accommodate various roof system types.

Modeling tool is convenient

Firestone Building Products Co. LLC has introduced RoofGenuity,™ an online commercial roof modeling tool that enables users to populate building designs' roof areas with various configurations of the company's single-ply, asphalt and metal roof systems and polyisocyanurate insulation to create commercial building models.

RoofGenuity is said to provide information needed to quickly and easily create roof assemblies. It reportedly can be used for a wide range of building types, including educational facilities; commercial, industrial and office buildings; entertainment venues; health care facilities; and government buildings.

The program is available at www.roofgenuity.com. Users can register for a free account, enter optional project location information and begin the roof assembly process. After final customizations are made, a 2-D computer-aided design drawing or 3-D model of the finished assembly can be downloaded to a computer or exported to another program.

Membrane resists moisture

W. R. MEADOWS Inc. has introduced AIR-SHIELD LM, a single-component, liquid-applied, water-based, polymer-modified air, vapor and liquid moisture barrier that reportedly cures to form a durable, seamless, elastomeric membrane.

AIR-SHIELD LM reportedly can be applied to most surfaces, integrated into various wall systems, and used with new construction and restoration applications. The moisture barrier is said to dry quickly and provide early resistance to rainfall. It reportedly is highly flexible and bridges cracks in substrates.

System melts roof ice

HotEdge Inc. has introduced its HotEdge Roof Ice Melt System, which firmly presses a self-regulating ice-melt cable against an existing roof edge to create a warm surface and prevent melted snow from refreezing before it drains to ground level.

HotEdge Roof Ice Melt System reportedly uses less energy than other ice-melt systems. It is designed to eliminate air spaces that are said to occur between other systems' extruded metal and top covers and reportedly uses its existing structure to maximize heat transfer from the cable to the roof edge.

Fasteners resist corrosion

Triangle Fastener Corp. has introduced PANEL-TITE® SCH Stainless Cap Head Screws and PANEL-TITE SS Stainless Steel Screws. The fasteners reportedly accommodate any application that requires corrosion resistance and extended performance.

PANEL-TITE SCH Stainless Cap Head Screws are capped with 304 stainless steel and reportedly provide extended performance when used on exposed fastener panels. The fasteners feature TRI-SEAL™ coating, which is said to resist corrosion. PANEL-TITE SS Stainless Steel Screws are made from 305 stainless steel and reportedly resist corrosion in most environments and with treated lumber.

Hooklift is durable

Stellar Industries Inc. has introduced its Slider26 hooklift, a 26,000-pound-capacity sliding-jib hooklift that features five hook height options, including two hydraulically adjustable versions, and reportedly can handle body variations of 12 to 18 feet with a maximum dump angle of 68 degrees.

Slider26 features a hexagonal boom design that reportedly provides added strength and durability, as well as zinc-plated pins and a secure hose track for the hydraulic adjustable jib. The hooklift also features replaceable wear pads, two-part polyurethane paint and a mounting kit that reportedly reduces installation time by using slotted brackets already painted and welded onto the hooklift base.
