Steel roof systems resist impacts

Boral Roofing LLC has made available its Boral Steel™ stone-coated steel roof systems in five profiles. BARREL-VAULT Tile resembles the look of Spanish tile; PACIFIC Tile mimics Mediterranean tile; and PINE-CREST Shake imitates hand-split wood shake. COTTAGE Shingle imitates a classic cottage appearance with raised and lower sections, and GRANITE-RIDGE Shingle is a low-profile shingle panel. All Boral Steel roof systems reportedly are lightweight, Class A fire-rated when used with designated underlay materials, and resistant to hail impacts and wind uplift. Boral Steel roof systems can be used for reroofing or new construction projects.

Tripod has adjustable legs

Pure Safety Group has introduced the Checkmate TR3 Tripod designed to provide fall protection for workers in confined spaces. The tripod’s legs are said to automatically lock in the open position during use and easily disengage for folding. The legs also can be adjusted for proper height with captive pins. The Checkmate TR3 Tripod’s pivoting spiked feet and rubber soles allow for its use on soft or hard surfaces, and its anti-splay webbing prevents the legs from splaying under a load. The maximum weight for one user is 310 pounds, and the maximum load capacity for carrying goods is 550 pounds. The Checkmate TR3 Tripod reportedly meets Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards and exceeds American National Standards Institute standards.

Shingles have high solar reflectance

IKO® has added six colors in two color series to its Cambridge™ Cool Colors line of asphalt shingles. The COOL PLUS color series offers dark-colored shingles in Dual Brown, Graphite Black, Harvard Slate and Weatherwood. The COOL color series offers medium-toned shingles in Canyon Oak and Sand Dune. COOL PLUS and COOL shingles contain infrared-reflective surface granules that reportedly help the shingles achieve Solar Reflectance Indices of 20 or more, exceeding California’s Title 24 cool roof minimum requirement. All Cambridge Cool Colors shingles feature resilient fiberglass mats designed to stay flat and large exposures said to make installation faster and reduce material and labor costs.

Install membranes in cold temperatures

Polyglass U.S.A., Inc. has added Elastoflex SA V Polar Base™ and Elastoflex SA P Polar Cap™ to its self-adhering product offerings. The roof membranes reportedly can be installed in temperatures between 25 F and 60 F. Designed for long-term performance, Elastoflex SA V Polar Base is fiberglass-reinforced for enhanced dimensional stability. Elastoflex SA P Polar Cap has an ultraviolet-stabilized granule surface and is polyester-reinforced to resist punctures and tears. Both membranes use an SBS formulation on the top side of the reinforcement and a self-adhering formulation on the bottom side. Manufactured with ADESO® Dual-Compound Self-Adhered Technology, the membranes are said to install cleanly without torches.

Flashing membrane is sustainable

MFM Building Products has made available GreenWeld™ PVB roof flashing membrane. Designed as an alternative for lead, sealant pockets or liquid flashing systems, GreenWeld PVB is a polyvinyl butyral membrane enhanced with an aluminum scrim for flexibility and strength. Made from recycled PVB, GreenWeld PVB reportedly can be used in residential and commercial roofing applications. Uses include flashing for pipe penetrations and support beams; water barrier for cavity walls; and liner for valleys of shingle, tile and aluminum metal roof systems. The membrane is said to be easy to cut and use, heat-weldable, nontoxic and sustainable. GreenWeld PVB is available in 19 1/2-foot rolls with widths of 10, 20 and 39 inches. Each roll is pre-packaged in a shrink sleeve for protection until use.
