Tool lanyard supports 15 pounds

WERNER® has added a new tool lanyard to its line of fall-protection products to allow workers to safely access tools while working at any height.

Composed of a stretch cord surrounded by durable 30-inch-long webbing when retracted, the lanyard extends up to 50 inches when in use and is designed to hold a maximum load of 15 pounds. The lanyard reportedly can be connected to a belt or harness using the included carabineer and drawstring connection points, providing easy access to hand tools. The lanyard is said to provide improved safety and productivity in work environments by reducing the risk of dropped tools.

Battery adapter offers latest battery technology

DEWALT® has released its 20V MAX* Battery Adapter for use with most DEWALT 18V tools. The battery adapter allows workers to use their tools with the most recent battery technology.

The battery adapter provides lithium ion battery technology for DEWALT 18V tools, reportedly providing higher capacity and higher energy. The battery adapter offers six battery options.

Handheld tester detects air leaks

KTA-Taylor Inc. has released its PosiTest Air Leak Tester, a hand-operated testing system designed to identify leaks in air barriers and waterproofing and roof systems.

The tester reportedly can be used on single- and two-ply membranes; coatings applied to concrete; liquid-applied membranes; spray polyurethane foam; board stock; exterior insulation and finish systems; and EPDM roof systems. It provides an assessment of the continuity of coatings and membrane installation and compliance with ASTM E1186, "Standard Practices for Air Leakage Site Detection in Building Envelopes and Air Barrier Systems."

Coating system restores roof systems

Mule-Hide Products has introduced its Silicone Roof Coating System designed to repair and restore aging roof systems.

The system reportedly can be used with asphalt, polymer-modified bitumen, metal, concrete, TPO, PVC and EPDM roof systems. The Silicone Roof Coating System is said to extend the life of a roof system by providing a watertight and energy-efficient seal.

The system includes Si Cleaner to prepare the substrate for priming; two primers to improve adhesion of the top coat; silicone sealant to complete repair and maintenance tasks; three top coats; and Si Cleaning Solvent to wash tools and equipment.

Underlayment is fire-rated

Firestone Building Products has introduced CLAD-GARD™ SA-FR with CoreGard™ Technology underlayment for metal roof systems.

The underlayment reportedly is waterproof, self-adhering and Class A fire-rated by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. The underlayment is composed of four layers with a skid-resistant top film for safe installation.

NRCA releases training modules

NRCA has released its Design Essentials for Roof Performance: Low-slope Roofing Overview and Decks Package, which contains two online training modules intended to educate trainees about the different types of low-slope roof systems.

The package consists of two online learning modules that explain the differences among low-slope roof system types; issues and concerns common to low-slope roof system design and installation; how to specify and explain considerations for each roof system; code requirements; and more. The programs require about 120 minutes to complete.

The Design Essentials for Roof Performance: Low-slope Roofing Overview and Decks Package costs $130 for NRCA members and $260 for nonmembers. The two online training modules included in the package also can be purchased individually.
