Unemployment rate remains unchanged in October

The U.S. unemployment rate remained at 9.6 percent in October as employers added 151,000 jobs, according to The Washington Post.

Private employers added 159,000 jobs in October, which was more than economists expected. Governments at all levels cut 8,000 jobs, which was an improvement compared with a significant drop in September.

In October, temporary agencies gained 34,900 jobs; the retail sector gained 27,900 jobs; and the health care sector gained 24,000 jobs. Additionally, the manufacturing sector cut 7,000 jobs and the construction sector showed little change.

There currently are 14.8 million unemployed workers in the U.S.
