Collated fasteners are for Spanish tile

PAM Fastening Technology has released collated fasteners designed for use with Spanish roof tiles. The screw-type fasteners feature sharp points to pierce roof glazes and are said to reduce broken tiles. The fasteners are compatible with the company's Autofeed Screw Gun and other industry tools.

In addition, the company has released its PAM Pneumatic SX2KUE autofeed screw gun. The tool features a removable extension that increases its length to 38 3/4 inches. The product drives 1- to 2-inch screws into drywall, wood, and light- and heavy-gauge steel.

Equipment available to all contractors

Perma-Tech has made available its 2002 line of coating application equipment, Blue Machines, for lease or purchase to non-Perma-Tech authorized contractors. The line includes four models that spray polyurea, polyurethane and foam coatings onto concrete, wood, steel and other substrates with 3,000 pounds per square inch of pressure. The machines feature controls for isocyanurate or polyisocyanurate applications.

In addition, the company has released its LS low-output gun for use with Blue Machines. The gun can be adjusted to reduce coverage and overspray and is said to spray less than 1 pound of material per minute.

Netting stops pest birds

Nixalite of America Inc. has made available PollyNet to protect buildings and roof systems from birds. The netting, made of ultraviolet-resistant polypropylene, is available in standard grade 1/2-inch-square mesh and lightweight 3/4- by 5/8-inch mesh. The mesh is said to be flexible and easy to cut.

Hoists are electric

Equipco Inc. has released its Scaf-Mate and Roof-Mate lines of electric construction hoists. The hoists, which lift materials at speeds of 80 feet per minute, feature lifting capacities of 450 pounds to 1,900 pounds and can be used in limited spaces. The products include 100- to 150-foot-long cables, sealed oil-bath gearboxes, heavy-duty motors, and 5-foot standard or 80-foot optional pendant controls.

Railing system provides safe access

Kee Industrial Products Inc. has made available its Kee HatchTM safety railing system that reportedly meets the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's standards for fixed ladders, as well as guarding floor and wall openings and holes. The system—corrosion-resistant standard pipe and galvanized Kee Klamp® slip-on pipe fittings—is available in seven models. The system reportedly does not penetrate a roof membrane and contains no sharp points.

Skylights are for residential use

Wasco Products Inc. has made available its pyramid skylights for residential applications. The insulated segmented glass skylight is said to minimize framing and maximize daylight. The skylights, which are available in square, extended or octagonal shapes, can be customized.

Hoist has power indicator light

Power Climber has redesigned its Pocket Climber hoist to feature a low-voltage indicator light that reveals when a hoist's power drops below minimum operating levels. The indicator can be retrofitted on older model hoists and is said to help contractors troubleshoot field power problems and avoid premature electrical component failures.

Job-site radio is heavy-duty

Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp. has released its Model No. 49-24-0200 Job Site Radio that is said to withstand harsh job-site conditions. The radio, which reportedly can be dropped 8 feet onto concrete without damage, features an impact-resistant shell; steel handle; two-way Rockford Fosgate® sound system; and auxiliary input jacks for CD and MP3 players and other audio devices. The radio can be powered with 120 volts of electricity or 12-, 14- and 18-volt batteries.

Drawer systems are versatile

American Eagle Accessories GroupTM has released its drawer systems for storing tools in service trucks, workshops and other locations. The galveneal steel drawers have 300-pound capacity slides and are available in 10 standard models.

Zinc product is made for details

RHEINZINK CANADA LTD. has introduced its RHEINZINK®-Soft Zinc product for roof system transitions and details. The 26-gauge product is available in two designs—smooth and pleated. The smooth product laterally connects layered roof tiles to roof edges. The pleated product connects roof penetrations to roof tiles on the eave side. The products are said to be corrosion-resistant and require no maintenance.

In addition, the company has made available its RHEINZINK®-Rainwater Collector with a Plug-in Connector. The product collects rainwater and separates debris, such as leaves and dirt. The system automatically prevents a collection container from overflowing and can be shut off if rainwater no longer is needed.

Software assists with sales and marketing

Quality One Enterprises Inc. has released The Sales Development System, software that assists contractors with sales and marketing. The software can be used to schedule sales calls, send appointment letters, and produce proposals and contracts. The software also includes a direct-mail system to help generate leads, letters, forms and reports.

Sealant is weather-resistant

OSI® Sealants Inc. has released its Pro-Series® QUAD® Advanced Formula Sealant, a multipolymer adhesive that resists water and extreme temperatures. The product—available in 140 colors—can be used on vinyl, aluminum, steel, copper, fiber cement, stucco, masonry, fiberglass, cedar and other materials. The sealant is said to be mildew-resistant and not crack or discolor. The product is available in 10-ounce cartridges with 4-inch spouts.

Kits help train workers

The National Safety Council (NSC) has released its Toolbox Safety Kits to help foremen and supervisors train crews. The kits contain NSC safety booklets relevant to the construction and utilities industries, trainer outline cards, emergency-information sheets and employee sign-off sheets.

Coating protects aged roof systems

Uniflex® Roofing Systems LLC has made available its SPE Gray Acrylic Base Coat for aged EPDM and CSPE/HypalonTM roof systems. The white, reflective coating is said to lower roof temperatures, reduce energy costs and extend a roof system's life. The coating meets Energy Star® requirements.

Scissor lifts are for rough terrain

JLG Industries Inc. has released two scissor lifts designed for rough terrain—Models 3394RT and 4394RT. The lifts feature fuel-injected engines, dual-pump hydraulic drives, three-speed selectable drive controls, 15-inch-wide tires and standard 7- by 17-foot platforms.

Model 3394RT has a 33-foot platform height and 2,250-pound platform capacity, and Model 4394RT features a 43-foot platform height and 1,500-pound platform capacity.

Product replaces rooftop units

Thybar Corp. has released its Thycurb Multi-Zone Retro-Mate® that replaces existing multizone rooftop heating and air-conditioning units. The product can be installed on top of an existing multizone system without changing ductwork and zones. The unit is made of galvanized or GALVALUME® steel and contains transitions, baffles and structural supports to integrate the product with an existing unit.

Fall-protection system is hands-free

Söll Americas has released its XenonTM Horizontal Cable Lifeline System that provides hands-free fall protection. A shock-absorbent lanyard and full-body harness attach a worker to the system, which includes a shuttle connector that bypasses intermediate supports without disconnecting from the lifeline. The system reportedly can be installed on straight or curved surfaces, floors or ridge lines.
