INSPEC employee receives award

Cynthia Long, a project manager for the Roofing Design Department of INSPEC Inc., Minneapolis, has received the Andrew J. Drozda Memorial Academic Affairs Award from the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI). The annual award is presented to an individual, firm or organization that has enhanced CSI's image and recognition at academic institutions that offer construction-related curricula.

Long was nominated for providing educational programs, such as the Explorer Program that recruits and educates 14- to 20-year-old students who are interested in construction and architectural careers.

RHEINZINK forms new subsidiary

RHEINZINK GmbH & Co. KG, Datteln, Germany, has established a new subsidiary, RHEINZINK America Inc., Cambridge, Mass. RHEINZINK America serves customers in the United States, Canada and Mexico and provides technical support, sales, training and products. Amir Massihzadeh, former vice president of sales for RHEINZINK Canada Ltd., Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, has been named president of RHEINZINK America.

In addition, RHEINZINK Canada has been renamed RHEINZINK Pacific Ltd. to reflect its focus on the Asian market. The RHEINZINK America facility's opening and RHEINZINK Canada's changes took place Oct. 1.

Manitowoc expands business

Manitowoc, Wis.-based Manitowoc Co. Inc. has acquired the assets of Grove Investors Inc., Shady Grove, Pa. The acquisition includes Grove Investors' lines of mobile hydraulic cranes, truck-mounted cranes and boom trucks. According to company representatives, Grove Investors and its subsidiaries will not incur name, employee or facility changes.

Tropical Asphalt named distributor

Tropical Asphalt Products (TAPCO) LLC, Hallandale, Fla., was named master distributor for Environmental Coating Systems Inc., Laguna Beach, Calif. TAPCO will distribute the company's coating systems, finishes, underlayments and other products throughout the United States.

Petersen product is code-compliant

Elk Grove Village, Ill.-based Petersen Aluminum Corp. has received notices of acceptance from the Product Control Division of Miami-Dade County's Building Code Compliance Office for its Snap-Clad™ 24-gauge steel and 0.032-inch- (0.8-mm-) thick Snap-Clad® aluminum panel. The code approves products for use in metropolitan Dade County, Fla.

RollCOM restructures its distribution

Frankfort, Ky.-based RollCOM has implemented its Select Distributor Network of U.S. and international companies for its metal roofing and light-gauge wall products. The distributors will manage RollCOM's promotion, estimating, bidding, contracting and engineering for their localities.

"Our select distributors will … provide architects and roofing contractors with localized services, such as pricing … and shop drawings," says John Arnold, RollCOM's national marketing and sales manager.

EniChem Americas changes its name

Milan, Italy-based EniChem Americas Inc. has changed its name to Polimeri Europa Americas Inc. The name change is a result of EniChem Americas' purchase of Milan-based Polimeri Europa S.r.l., a manufacturer of olefins and polyethylene. The companies have integrated their petrochemical lines. According to company representatives, no facility or employee changes will occur.
