The Alliance announces scholarship winners
The
Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress has announced the
winners of its Melvin Kruger
Endowed Scholarships for the 2010-11 academic year.
The Alliance
awarded new Melvin Kruger
Endowed Scholarships to Gabriella Abbondanza of Southwick,
Mass., daughter of Vincent Abbondanza, national account manager for
OMG Roofing Products, Agawam, Mass.; Alexis Belote of Red Oak,
Texas, daughter of William Belote, estimator for American Roofing
and Metal Co., San Antonio; and Charanya Kaushik of McMurray, Pa.,
daughter of Mala Kaushik, software engineer for CentiMark Corp.,
Canonsburg, Pa.
Individuals or companies that commit a minimum of $100,000 to
the scholarship fund can choose to name a scholarship and
participate in the selection of recipients each year. A new
Firestone Scholarship for the 2010-11 academic year was awarded to
Joseph Baker of Apex, N.C., son of Andrew Baker, vice president of
Baker Roofing Co., Raleigh, N.C. The Alliance
renewed three named scholarships for the 2010-11 academic year. The
recipients are Jennifer Baxter of Carthage, Tenn., who is attending
Brevard College, Brevard, N.C., and will receive the Fred Good
Scholarship; Addie Kuhn of Fort Wayne, Ind., who is attending
Savannah College of Art and Design, Savannah, Ga., and will receive
the Firestone Scholarship; and Laura Stabile of Wolcott, Conn., who
is attending Lee University, Cleveland, Tenn., and will receive the
