Fastener has locking barbs

Olympic Manufacturing Group Inc. has introduced OlyLok, a double-locking impact nail used to secure base sheets and recovery boards to lightweight concrete decks, Tectum and gypsum. OlyLok features locking wire barbs for increased pullout resistance. The fastener does not require predrilling.

Retractable lifeline is strong

Miller Fall Protection has released a new line of Miller Falcon™ Self-Retracting Lifelines, which have passed durability performance tests and are available in 20-, 30-, 50- and 65-foot galvanized wire and stainless-steel wire rope models.

The Falcon Self-Retracting Lifeline features corrosion-resistant stainless-steel and aluminum internal components; a lightweight unit that is easy to transport; quiet operation; spring retraction tension; dual swivels; and a built-in, ergonomic molded handle.

Gutter and coil are embossed

Berger Brothers Co. has introduced its embossed copper gutter and gutter coil. The 16-ounce copper gutter is available in three embossed patterns—Caesar Circles, Greek Key and Patriot.

The Copper 5- and 6-inch K-style and half-round gutter is available in 10- and 20-foot lengths.

The Copper Gutter Coil is 11 3/4 inches wide for 5-inch K-style and 15 inches wide for 6-inch K-style; both are offered in 200-foot lengths.

Also offered in 200-foot lengths is the half-round-style coil, which is 10 inches wide for a 5-inch gutter and 11 5/8 inches wide for a 6-inch gutter.

Hammer drills are lightweight

Makita USA Inc. has introduced its 3.7-pound HP1620F and HP1621FK hammer drills. The 5/8-inch hammer drills feature 5.7-ampere motors at 0-2,800 rotations per minute and 0-44,800 blows per minute; the HP1620F has a keyed chuck; and the HP1621FK has a keyless chuck.

The hammer drills also include a variable-speed switch; forward/reverse slide system; ergonomic design; rubberized grip; and a two-finger trigger switch with a 360-degree swivel side handle.

Roof membrane is flexible

Stevens Roofing Systems has released gray Stevens EV roof membrane, which is said to retain its appearance and flexibility because the membrane is based on a nonmigrating polymer. Available in 45-, 60- and 80-mil thicknesses, the roof membrane resists contaminants and can be fully adhered, mechanically attached, installed as a vented roof system or ballasted.

The 45- and 60-mil membranes are available in 100-foot-long rolls that are 76 1/2 inches wide, and the 80-mil membranes are available in 75-foot-long rolls that are 78 inches wide.

Fascia system has wind warranty

The Anchor-Tite Canted Fascia System, an addition to the Anchor-Tite System, has been released by Metal-Era Inc. The system has a 20-year, 150-mph wind warranty and allows the use of 0.05-inch and 0.063-inch aluminum fascia covers. The fascia system also offers larger face heights; a nonpenetrating cover attachment; and prepunched, slotted fastening holes.

Gloves are chemical-resistant

Bacou-Dalloz's Perfect Fit® Glove has made available its PowerCoat™ line of chemical-resistant and liquidproof gloves. Offering a rough finish for grip, the gloves have a liquidproof shell, as well as a seamless cotton liner for comfort and flexibility.

A variety of styles are available, including Model 660 with additional oil resistance; Models 640 and 772 with protection against liquid chemicals; Model 460, which is flexible in temperatures as low as -4 F; and Model 1520, which provides grip in wet or dry conditions.

Underlayment is recycled

FONTANA Paper Mills Inc. has introduced VulcaSeal Rubberized #30, a residential underlayment made with recycled tires in a rubberized asphalt blend and organic mat made from recycled materials. Able to be installed in hot or cold weather, the underlayment can be used in new construction or retrofit applications. The product is designed to be installed under fiberglass shingles, concrete or clay tile or metal roof systems.

System simplifies dish installation

RSTC Enterprises Inc. has introduced the Commdeck dish mounting system, which allows roofing contractors to install a satellite dish and antenna without damaging roof systems. The Commdeck system is a secure, watertight dish-mounting system that can be installed during a reroofing project or new construction. The system prevents water infiltration and eliminates the use of exterior wiring or lag bolting through siding or a roof. Commdeck is made with galvanized steel and a powder-coated finish.

Utility blades can bend

A new line of utility blades and knives, including the LENOX® Gold™ bimetal utility blade and LENOX Gold utility knife, has been released by LENOX. The LENOX Gold bimetal utility blade has a titanium nitride-coated edge and is made with two pieces of welded steel, which are said to allow the blade to bend without breaking. The blades also are said to have a longer life than carbon blades, possibly leading to fewer blade changes.

The LENOX Gold utility knife has a titanium-coated stainless-steel nose, which also is said to improve the product's life span by protecting it against wear. The knife does not require tools when inserting blades, and it features a quick blade-change mechanism. It is available in retractable and fixed versions.

Video offers roofing solutions

Polyglass® has made available its Commercial Application Video for SA Self-Adhesive Membranes with ADESO™ technology. Featuring an installation of the self-adhering membranes on two reroofing projects, the 22-minute video discusses roofing solutions in commercial construction applications.

Other aspects of the video include product information; step-by-step roofing detail instructions; and a demonstration of Polyglass' SEALLap™ and FASTLap,® features of ADESO technology, which are said to be efficient in low-temperature conditions.

Earmuffs provide protection

Bilsom® has released a line of 18 earmuff designs organized into four categories: sound management, noise blocking, radio and communication. The earmuffs feature filters in certain models that block harmful, loud noises and let in noises such as human voices.

The earmuffs also are said to feature improved comfort with ventilated headbands, padded fabric wire headbands and Quick-Click height adjustment on some models.

In addition, the earmuffs allow workers to listen to the radio, as well as participate in two-way communication via cell phone, radio or other portable communication devices.

Asphalt shingles resemble slate

CertainTeed Corp. has introduced Centennial Slate,™ an asphalt shingle made with a new shingle-cutting and granule-blending manufacturing process and said to replicate the look of blended slate. Centennial Slate offers four layers of shingle protection and 8-inch exposure and consists of CertainTeed's Super Shangle® construction with two 18- by 36-inch base shingles.

Centennial Slate also features algae resistance and coverage against winds up to 110 mph.

It is 355 pounds per square and available in six colors, including black granite, country slate, fieldstone, New England slate, Plymouth Rock and smoky quartz.
