The thrill of convention

2005, the year the International Roofing Expo debuted, was filled with some trepidation by exhibitors, anxiety by NRCA and hopefulness by all. But in the end, the 2005 International Roofing Expo was a resounding success.

This year, the expo will be even better. NRCA and Washington, D.C.-based Hanley Wood, who manages the International Roofing Expo, have built on their strong partnership, which focuses on mutual respect and shared goals. The success of the partnership is evident in the high attendance numbers expected at the 2006 International Roofing Expo held this month in Las Vegas.

According to Hanley Wood, the 2006 International Roofing Expo is expected to attract more than 8,500 attendees and more than 400 exhibiting companies in 900 booths. In contrast, the 2005 show had about 7,500 attendees and 380 exhibiting companies. In addition to the trade show, there will be more than 50 educational sessions with various expert speakers.

As in 2005, NRCA will hold its annual convention during the International Roofing Expo. NRCA will host its Member Breakfast; ROOFPAC events; the National Roofing Legal Resource Center Breakfast; and Oscar Night where NRCA's most prestigious awards will be presented. A full schedule of NRCA events can be found in the pullout section in this issue.

During the trade show, NRCA will be announcing an exciting new initiative: the SpecRight Program. The program, supported by various industry partners, is geared toward helping building owners conserve energy by installing energy-efficient and environmentally friendly roof systems. Details about the SpecRight Program can be found in "Saving energy with the right roofs," or on www.specright.net. In addition, brochures and other information will be available at NRCA's booth on the trade-show floor, Booth No. 663.

Hanley Wood and NRCA have continued to work to improve The 2006 International Roofing Expo and NRCA's 119th Annual Convention. Those who walk through the trade show, attend the educational programs and participate in NRCA activities will be able to see firsthand what the roofing industry does best.
