Sarnafil offers single-source warranty

Canton, Mass.-based NRCA member Sarnafil Inc. has announced an agreement with Philadelphia-based Roofscapes Inc., a green roof engineering, design and installation firm, to jointly promote green roofs and offer a single-source Sarnafil warranty.

"We are pleased to be the industry's first single-ply roofing manufacturer to offer a single-source green roof warranty," says Brian Whelan, president and chief executive officer of Sarnafil.

CertainTeed is NASCAR sponsor

Valley Forge, Pa.-based CertainTeed Corp. sponsored the Haas CNC Racing #66 Chevrolet and NASCAR driver Jeff Green for the Sharpie 500 NASCAR Nextel Cup race Aug. 26.

CertainTeed was featured in a paint scheme on the car, and Green wore a CertainTeed-branded fire suit. Additionally, CertainTeed's logo was featured on all Haas CNC racing uniforms, merchandise, pit row equipment and the car hauler.

Cooley Building Products expands distribution

NRCA member Cooley Building Products, Pawtucket, R.I., has announced an agreement with Emmett, Idaho-based TJT Inc. to stock and distribute Cooley Building Products' Illusions® single-ply roof membranes and accessory products in northern California, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, northern Utah and Washington.

"Cooley Building Products is pleased to have entered into this agreement with TJT," says Joe Cesario, specialty roofing sales manager for Cooley Building Products. "TJT's strong record of success greatly will enhance our product expansion through reliable distribution and support the growth of our customers."

Dow Chemical announces joint venture

NRCA member The Dow Chemical Co., Midland, Mich., has announced the formation of a joint-venture company with Izolan, Vladimir, Russia, a manufacturer of polyurethane systems. The new company, Dow Izolan, will be based in Vladimir and provide customer-tailored polyurethane systems products to customers in Russia.

"Since 1974, The Dow Chemical Co. has been providing products and services to our customers in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States," says Adriaan van den Berge, general manager of Dow Europe in Russia. "The creation of Dow Izolan is the latest example of The Dow Chemical Co.'s commitment to building solid businesses in the region."

National Coatings wins Title 24 contract

National Coatings Corp., Camarillo, Calif., has won a three-year contract to provide Title 24-compliant cool roof coatings for the Los Angeles Unified School District's education buildings. The district has pledged $7.5 billion to renovate the more than 13,000 buildings on more than 800 campuses in the school district.

Owens Corning announces partnership

Owens Corning, Toledo, Ohio, has announced a partnership with St. Paul, Minn.-based GE Consumer Finance's Retail Sales Finance unit, which will allow Owens Corning Preferred Contractors to extend financing from GE Consumer Finance to their homeowner customers who select Owens Corning roofing products.

"GE Consumer Finance is one of the most trusted names in consumer financing for the home-improvement market, and our partnership makes our contractor program even stronger," says Bo Jackson, contractor marketing manager for Owens Corning.

FRSA announces officers, awards

The Florida Roofing, Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors Association (FRSA) announced its new officers during its 84th Annual Convention in Orlando, Fla.

Following are the new officers: president—Gary Register, president of J. Register Co. Inc., Orange Park, Fla.; president elect—Billy Cone, president of NRCA member RoofTech Roofing & Sheet Metal, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; vice president—Keith Swope, president and owner of NRCA member Tampa Roofing Co., Tampa, Fla.; and secretary/treasurer—Paul Furr, owner of PDF Roofing Concepts Inc., Bradenton, Fla.

In addition, the following awards were given to FRSA members: Bob Campanella Memorial Award—Brett Stiegel, administrator of the FRSA Self Insurers Fund, Winter Park, Fla.; President's Award—Linda Shewski, co-owner of NRCA member Shewski Roofing, Sarasota, Fla.; Charlie Raymond Membership Award—Steve Steele, sales manager for Millenium Metals, Jacksonville, Fla.; Earl Blank Heart Award—James Brauner, president and owner of NRCA member Roofing Equipment of Florida Inc., Orlando; and Bieler Family Enthusiasm Gets It Done Award—George Manson, vice president and chief financial officer of NRCA member Manson Roofing, Bradenton.

Trimline Building Products has launched its expanded Web site, www.trimline-products.com, which features new information, including instructions and ideas for using Trimline Building Products' shingle-over-ridge vents for various roofing applications. The site also features a dealer locator tool, which allows customers to find the nearest Trimline Building Products distributor, and vent calculator, which determines the necessary sizes of intake and exhaust vents to create a balanced ventilation system.
