During the past 20 years as a roof consultant, architect and
former president of RCI Inc.—The Institute of Roofing,
Waterproofing and Building Envelope Professionals (RCI), I have met
many roofing professionals who have shared a wealth of information.
Additionally, I spent hundreds of hours in the field and through
empirical experience have learned many interesting things about the
roofing industry with regard to building codes, products, energy
and environmental issues, and business issues, among other
things.
Following are my observations regarding roofing industry issues
and concerns.
