Unemployment rate increases in November

The U.S. unemployment rate jumped to 9.8 percent in November as employers added 39,000 jobs, according to The Washington Post. Economists were expecting more significant job growth.

In November, temporary agencies gained 40,000 jobs and the health care sector gained 19,000 jobs. The retail sector cut 28,000 jobs; manufacturing sector cut 13,000 jobs; and construction sector cut 5,000 jobs.

There currently are 15.1 million unemployed workers in the U.S.
