The U.S. unemployment rate jumped to 9.8 percent in November as employers added 39,000 jobs, according to
The Washington Post
. Economists were expecting more significant job growth.
In November, temporary agencies gained 40,000 jobs and the health care sector gained 19,000 jobs. The retail sector cut 28,000 jobs; manufacturing sector cut 13,000 jobs; and construction sector cut 5,000 jobs.
There currently are 15.1 million unemployed workers in the U.S.
