In December 2011, jobless rates decreased in 37 U.S. states, indicating improvement in the job market, according to www.bloomberg.com.

Additionally, unemployment rose in three states and was unchanged in 10.

Employers added 200,000 net jobs in December 2011 compared with 120,000 jobs added in November 2011.

Texas reported the biggest job gain in December 2011, adding 20,200 jobs. New York reported the biggest loss, losing 14,000 jobs.

Nevada had the highest unemployment rate in December 2011 at 12.6 percent, followed by California at 11.1 percent. North Dakota had the lowest unemployment rate at 3.3 percent, followed by Nebraska at 4.1 percent
