SBA and Nationwide launch disaster planning guide

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co., Columbus, Ohio, have partnered to launch a small-business disaster preparedness guide. The guide offers information for small-business owners about developing a plan to effectively protect customers and employees if a disaster strikes.

"The most successful recovery efforts are always preceded by good planning," says SBA Deputy Administrator Jovita Carranza. "The more preparation that businesses complete before a disaster, the better able they are to rebuild and reopen quickly after a disaster."

The 10-page disaster preparedness guide provides strategies that help small-business owners identify potential hazards, develop plans for remaining in operation when an office can’t be used and understand the limitations of their insurance coverage.

SBA field offices, its resource partners and disaster field offices will distribute hard copies of the guide. In addition, Nationwide agents will have copies available.
