Information about stimulus package is available

NRCA has issued a Special Report addressing the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (H.R. 1), a $787 billion economic stimulus package intended to jump-start the economy. The Special Report informs NRCA members about H.R. 1's provisions that may be of interest to the roofing industry and could help roofing professionals through the economic downturn.

The legislation, which President Obama signed into law Feb. 17, includes numerous provisions that affect roofing contractors and their customers. The Special Report offers a detailed summary of such provisions in three main categories: tax incentives for employers and consumers; funding for energy efficiency and other improvements to federal buildings, schools, military facilities, etc.; and programs designed to improve small businesses' credit access.

NRCA members can read the Special Report by visiting the Members Only section of NRCA's Web site, www.nrca.net.

For more information, contact Duane Musser, NRCA's vice president of government affairs, at (800) 338-5765 or dmusser@nrca.net.

Additionally, in March, NRCA University conducted four webinars focusing on how the economic stimulus package can benefit roofing contracting companies. The webinars are available on NRCA's Web site.

The first webinar is an overview of the stimulus package; the second focuses on energy issues; the third highlights procurement issues; and the fourth discusses tax issues. Each webinar is conducted by an NRCA expert and is designed to help roofing contractors position their companies to take full advantage of everything the economic stimulus package has to offer.

Each webinar is $75 for NRCA members and $95 for nonmembers.

For more information or to place an order, contact NRCA's Customer Service Department at (866) ASK-NRCA (275-6722) or info@nrca.net.
