WHAT IS YOUR POSITION WITHIN YOUR COMPANY? I am president of Division 7 Roofing, Galena, Ohio.

WHAT IS THE MOST UNUSUAL PROJECT OF WHICH YOU HAVE BEEN A PART? I’ve been involved with the design and installation of roof systems for structures buried underground for secret military installations and high-rise skyscrapers.

WHY DID YOU BECOME INVOLVED IN THE ROOFING INDUSTRY? My father and uncle were commercial roofing professionals for R.L. Glendenning in Pittsburgh. After graduating high school, I saw roofing as an opportunity to earn good money and have a career path.

WHAT SONG ARE YOU LISTENING TO OVER AND OVER? “7 Years” by Lukas Graham

IF YOU COULD TRAVEL ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD YOU GO? WHY? Egypt—I enjoy ancient history relics that have stood the test of time.

PEOPLE WOULD BE SURPRISED TO KNOW ... I enjoy technology and how it has affected the roofing industry.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST ROOFING EXPERIENCE? Tearing off coal tar and reinstalling four-ply coal tar with gravel on a school in Pittsburgh. You never forget your first experience with coal tar.

WHAT IS YOUR ROOFING INDUSTRY INVOLVEMENT? I am involved with NRCA University’s Future Executives Institute; the ESE 1 peer group with Greg Hayne, owner of Roof Management, Fairfield, Iowa; and the Roofing Technology Think Tank Community. Every group I’m involved with has been a fantastic experience.

WHAT QUALITY DO YOU MOST ADMIRE IN A PERSON? Honesty

WHAT’S THE MOST EXCITING/ADVENTUROUS THING YOU’VE DONE? I once went out to get lunch and bought a Corvette without telling my wife what I was up to.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB? My first day after high school graduation, I was brought into the commercial roofing industry and helped fabricate metal for a few months until I turned 18 years old.

IF YOU COULD MEET ANY HISTORICAL FIGURE, WHOM WOULD YOU MEET? WHY? George Washington because he was the first U.S. president, and I would like to ask him what he thinks about the current problems we are facing.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE STRESS RELIEVER? Listening to books through Audible

MY FAVORITE PART ABOUT WORKING IN THE ROOFING INDUSTRY IS ... Seeing all the different natural abilities come together to make a company run effectively.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE ROOFING MATERIAL TO WORK WITH? WHY? PVC—It’s the highest quality single-ply material and requires more talent to install.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FOOD? Lobster—St. Elmo Steak House in Indianapolis has the best!

WHAT IS THE MOST HIGH-TECH ITEM IN YOUR HOUSE? A computer

WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER YOUR MOST REWARDING EXPERIENCE? Working with several individuals from Puerto Rico to find a career path in roofing and seeing their appreciation for the opportunity to move their families into a better environment.
