What is your position within your company?
I am vice president and co-owner of Florida Quality Roofing Inc., Miami.

What is the most unusual roofing project of which you have been a part?
We were contracted to reroof several restaurants while they remained operational. It was a project that had to be coordinated carefully, and in some instances, we worked through the night to get the job done without disrupting operations.

Why did you get involved in the roofing industry?
There's a saying I've heard several times: "You are either born into the roofing industry or stumble into it." I stumbled into it and never looked back.

What was your first roofing experience?
My first roofing experience was going to a condominium board meeting with my partner, German Duarte, to present our proposal for a reroofing project. I had redone all our marketing materials and this was the first time we were presenting them—we were awarded the contract.

I lived abroad for a year in Sydney.

What is your roofing industry involvement?
My company is a member of NRCA and the Florida Roofing, Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors Association.

What are your best and worst habits?

If you could have dinner with any three people—dead or alive—whom would you invite and why?
I would have dinner with Anthony Bourdain because he's an interesting person and I'm sure I would eat somewhere great and have an amazing conversation. I also would like to have dinner with my grandmothers who have passed away.

What is your fondest childhood memory?
Spending time with my grandmother

What three items always are in your refrigerator?
A nice bottle of wine, cheese and leftovers

What is your favorite stress reliever?
My favorite stress reliever is taking time out to be with my dog, Suki, a Maltese/Yorkie mix. She comes to the office with me and reminds me to take breaks.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be? Why?
I would have the superpower to understand, speak and write any language so I could communicate anywhere in the world.

What song do you find yourself listening to over and over these days?
"A Sky Full of Stars" by Coldplay

What is the most challenging aspect of your job?
The most challenging aspect of my job is getting property owners to understand a roof is not just a roof. Rather, roofs are valuable assets and the most important components of their buildings.

What is your favorite part about working in the roofing industry?
My favorite part about working in the roofing industry is helping clients find the right solutions for their projects.
