Close-up

Driving up to the Welcome Pavilion at the new Milton & Catherine Hershey Conservatory at Hershey Gardens in Hershey, Pa., one of the first things visitors see is a curved metal roof that seems to crown the conservatory. On top of a hill overlooking Hershey, the Welcome Pavilion serves as the main entrance to Hershey Gardens, where visitors can enjoy 23 acres of botanical beauty.

Houck Services Inc., Harrisburg, Pa., installed the pavilion's 2,650-square-foot Drexel Metals 24-gauge Galvalume® 1 1/2-inch architectural standing-seam metal panels in Hemlock Green. Workers also fabricated the curved hip detail and installed an 8-inch ogee 24-inch Galvalume gutter in Hemlock Green to match the roof, as well as Drexel Metals soffit panels in Regal White.

The conservatory is scheduled to open this spring and will include an indoor butterfly atrium and a horticultural and educational wing, as well as an overlook and terrace.
