Tool designed for overhead welding

LEISTER Process Technologies has released its TriacDrive semiautomatic welding machine that is designed for overhead and restricted-area welding. The 5-pound tool regulates its temperature and speed so a user only must regulate application force.

Cut-off machine is for indoor use

Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp. has made available its 14-inch Hand-Held Cut-Off Machine—Model No. 6185-20—for indoor metal and concrete cutting. The tool features a 4.8-horsepower motor and downward cutting rotation, which reportedly prevents jamming and keeps dust, debris and sparks out of an operator's sight. Blade changes can be made with an Allen wrench.

In addition, the company has released its 14.4-volt cordless impact wrenches that deliver up to 1,404 inches per pound of torque. Model No. 9081-22 features a 1/4-inch hex drive, and Model Nos. 9082-22 and 9083-22 feature a 3/8-inch square drive and 1/2-inch square drive, respectively. The 7 1/2-inch-long wrenches are designed for use in small spaces and reportedly produce 2,500 impacts per minute.

The company also released two orbital action jig saws—Top Handle Model No. 6266-22 and Body Grip Model No. 6276-21. The saws feature four orbital cutting positions, seven speed settings, 6-ampere motors and 6 1/4-inch cast-aluminum bases for stability. The tools are said to be useful in tight corners.

The Lok-Tor™ Series of 14.4- and 18-volt driver/drills and hammer drills also are available from Milwaukee Electric Tool. The products provide up to 495 inches per pound of torque and speeds up to 1,700 rotations per minute. The tools feature a spindle-lock mechanism that reportedly relieves metal-on-metal stress and provides durability.

Membrane available for residential use

Cooley/Building Products has made available its C3 Illusions membrane for residential roofing applications. The membrane is a shingle-patterned version of the company's C3 single-ply roof membrane and consists of Dupont Elvaloy,® a product that provides flexibility by bonding to a base material's molecular structure. The membrane is said to provide energy-efficient, maintenance-free roof systems. The product is available in charcoal, tan and green.

In addition, the company has released its CoolGrip Walktread material to protect single-ply roof systems from foot traffic. The product is made of a polyester-reinforced PVC/Elvaloy membrane with a polyester fleece fabric heat-fused to it. The product is available in gray, yellow, red, blue and black and said to be slip-, mold- and mildew-resistant.

Membrane is ENERGY STAR®-rated

Duro-Last® Roofing Inc. has released its Duro-Last Cool Zone™ roof system that has received the U.S. Department of Energy's and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's ENERGY STAR rating. The system's white membrane is made from a proprietary blend of thermoplastic resins and plasticizers, stabilizers, biocides, flame retarders and ultraviolet-absorbent materials.

Guardrail features new design

Kee Industrial Products Inc. has redesigned its KeeGuard® fall-prevention railing to place counterbalance weights in line and eliminate the T-shaped assembly. The new design is said to add more layout flexibility.

The railing also now can be tilted up to 11 degrees inward to prevent it from being seen from a street. The reusable product, which does not require drilling into a roof system during installation, consists of corrosion-resistant, 1 1/2-inch standard pipe.

Product helps with metal reroofing

Roof Floater has released its Roof Floater product to provide a level surface for metal reroofing applications. The product features two 16-gauge metal pieces that are available in various sizes to fit different metal roof rib heights. The product reportedly does not require removal of existing screws.

Publications address management issues

ABS Consulting has released two publications that address management issues. Principles of Risk-Based Decision Making contains examples, charts and checklists to help managers make decisions that minimize harmful effects on safety, health, property and the environment. Managing Chemical Safety offers tips to maintain a chemical safety-management system, including how to identify the toxicity of on-site chemicals and evaluate a workplace's potential hazards.

Brake is dual-cylinder

Tennsmith Inc. has released its Titan dual-cylinder press brake that features proportional valves to create full tonnage across the ram and bed. The brake delivers 0.0008-inch repeatability and includes axis positions that can be programmed for off-center loads, conical bends and bend speeds.

Rotary hammers are heavy-duty

Metabo Corp. has made available heavy-duty rotary hammers for concrete, steel and wood—Models KHE 24, KHE 28 and KHE 32.

KHE 24 delivers 124 inches per pound of torque, a 1-inch concrete bit capacity, 1/2-inch steel bit capacity and 1 1/2-inch wood bit capacity.

KHE 28 features 159 inches per pound of torque, a 1 1/8-inch concrete bit capacity, 1/2-inch steel bit capacity and 1 1/2-inch wood bit capacity.

KHE 32 delivers 221 inches per pound of torque, a 1 1/4-inch concrete bit capacity, 5/8-inch steel bit capacity and 1 9/16-inch wood bit capacity.

The hammers feature electronic speed controls, slip clutches, and reversing switches for right- and left-handed users, as well as automatic-stop carbon brushes.

Lanyard alternative is released

Miller Fall Protection, a division of Bacou-Dalloz, has released its Miller® Scorpion™ Personal Fall Limiter as an alternative to shock-absorbing lanyards. The limiter attaches to a harness's D-ring and can be used as a retractable lifeline. The product features 9 feet of mobility and is protected by DuPont Teflon HT, which is said to repel water, oil, grease, dirt and dust.

Aluminum bender is portable

Pro Quip LLC has made available its Tradesmen™ portable aluminum bender that features Trade-Loc,™ a self-adjusting clamping component that allows a user to switch material thicknesses without adjusting castings. The bender includes a 17-inch-deep bending pocket and locking handles, as well as aluminum die-cast clamps and lifting arms that reportedly reduce flexing and add strength.

Crane has light-lifting capabilities

Stellar Industries has made available its power-rotation economy electric crane—Model EC2K-P—for light-lifting applications. The crane features a 6,500-foot-per-pound capacity and can lift up to 930 pounds at 7 feet. The crane includes a 12-volt electric hoist winch with 9 1/2-foot-per-minute winch speed.

In addition, the company has redesigned its Stellar 5520 telescopic service crane by including the company's hexagonal boom. The crane, which features a 25,000-foot-per-pound capacity and can lift 5,000 pounds at 5 feet, has a planetary winch system with a hydraulic/mechanical brake.

The cranes are available with various chassis and compressor options, a steel or service-crane body and portable welding systems.

Elastomeric coating is reflective

Mule-Hide Products Co. Inc. has released its A-320 FINISH, a reflective, elastomeric, acrylic roof coating.

The coating can be used over smooth built-up and modified bitumen roof systems, as well as granule- and mineral-surfaced modified bitumen cap sheets.

The coating, which is said to be compliant with volatile organic compounds, can be applied with a brush, roller or airless sprayer without using fabrics.

Spikes prevent bird nesting

Bird-X Inc. has made available its Stainless SPIKES Needle Strips to prevent birds from nesting or roosting on roof ledges, gutters, trusses, beams and other places.

The transparent spikes are made of stainless steel and polycarbonate, which reportedly resist harsh weather conditions.

The spikes are preassembled in 2-foot modules that can be locked together and feature outrigger stabilizers, center spikes to stop birds from roosting between projections and holes every 1 inch for attachment.

Copper shingles resist weather

MetalWorks has made available its StoneCrest Copper shingles that feature a four-way locking system to provide weathertight performance. The shingles, which weigh 130 pounds per square, are made from 16-ounce copper substrate and said to offer energy benefits. The shingles' installation reportedly does not require special tools.
