This year, NRCA, CNA and the
CNA Foundation awarded the first CNA/NRCA
Community Involvement Award to ABC Roofing, Clackamas, Ore.,
for its work with Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp, Portland, Ore. As a
result, Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp will receive $5,000.
When CNA and NRCA conceived
the award, they determined one charity would receive $5,000 and two
honorable mentions each would receive $1,000. However, the quality
of submissions was so inspiring, four companies were awarded
honorable mentions: CentiMark Corp., Canonsburg, Pa., for its work
with Peter's Township Meals on Wheels, McMurray, Pa; Chase
Construction North West Inc., Edgewood, Wash., for its work with
Putti Village Uganda via New Horizon, Fife, Wash.; Commercial
Roofers Inc., Las Vegas, for its work with Convoy of Hope,
Springfield, Mo.; and Integrity Roofing LLC, Lees Summit, Mo., for
its work with Hope Network, Raytown, Mo.
Although the recipients were surprised with the honor, NRCA was not. We long have known our
members continually are doing good works with little recognition.
Small acts of kindness pay big dividends not only by fostering
goodwill among communities but also by promoting professionalism of
the roofing industry as a whole.
