In 1971, Brad Beldon, president of Beldon Roofing Co., San Antonio, and his sisters, Allison and Robin, boarded a Southwest plane on the first day Southwest began air service. They traveled from their hometown of San Antonio to Dallas to visit their aunt and uncle. The journey for the children was an adventure they never forgot.
For 44 years, Beldon and his sisters have remained loyal Southwest customers, and their children don't know any other airline. Beldon recently was featured in a Southwest blog, and during one of his frequent trips to Dallas for business, he was invited by the pilot to sit in the cockpit—a first for the Southwest regular.
