Heat-monitoring system protects workers

Kenzen has introduced its Kenzen worker heat-monitoring system. The cloud-based software system includes a device worn by a worker on his or her arm that alerts the worker and his or her supervisor when core body temperature is too hot. The device monitors physiological and environmental metrics, including heart rate, activity, skin temperature and ambient temperature. Real-time alerts are sent to workers via device vibration and iOS or Android app notification and to supervisors via web dashboard alert signaling the worker should take a break and allow his or her temperature to return to a safe level. Alerts are accompanied by actionable recommendations such as advising the worker to take a break, find shade, drink water or remove excess clothing and equipment to decrease body heat. A “back to work” alert indicates when a worker’s core body temperature has returned to a safe level. Kenzen is sold as a subscription on a per-worker, per-month basis.
