CertainTeed is honored

CertainTeed Corp., Valley Forge, Pa., and its parent company, Saint-Gobain, Courbevoie, France, have been named the Environmental Protection Agency's 2009 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year for Energy Management. This is the second time the companies have received the recognition.

The award recognizes all of Saint-Gobain's North American businesses, including CertainTeed, for their accomplishments and leadership in reducing green-house gas emissions through energy efficiency.

"CertainTeed is committed to preserving our environment through sustainable manufacturing and developing products that will improve energy efficiency," says Peter Dachowski, CertainTeed's president and chief executive officer. "We are pleased with our employees' dedication to energy management, which has made this year's ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year award possible."

Freudenberg Texbond wins award

Freudenberg Texbond, Macon, Ga., received the Existing Industry of the Year award, which the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce gives to a company for its contribution to the community. Freudenberg Texbond competed in the "less than 500 employees" category.

Freudenberg Texbond was nominated with 23 other Macon-area businesses and won the award for turning post-consumer polyethylene terephthalate bottles into nonwovens that are sold as reinforcement for bituminous waterproofing membranes. The Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce also recognized Freudenberg Texbond's involvement with civic and charity activities throughout central Georgia.

Englert enters distribution agreement

Englert Inc., Perth Amboy, N.J., and Follansbee Steel, Follansbee, W.V., have announced an agreement for Englert to serve as a limited line distributor for Follansbee Steel.

The agreement calls for Englert to market and supply Follansbee Steel's terne-coated stainless steel and carbon steel. Products Englert will distribute include TCS Satin (micro-embossed terne-coated stainless steel), TCS II (terne-coated stainless steel), Terne II Classic (terne-coated carbon steel) and Klassic Kolors (terne-coated carbon steel with a Kynar® paint finish).

In addition, Englert has opened a 17,500-square-foot service center and internal sales facility in Tampa, Fla. The facility will service Englert customers in northern Florida.

Englert has consolidated functions from two facilities it had been operating in the Tampa area. The new facility is a standalone unit and has more square footage than the previous buildings combined, as well as several hundred square feet available for future growth. It will feature a large showroom and customer waiting area where Englert will display its products.

Snyder Roofing wins award

Snyder Roofing of Oregon LLC, Tigard, Ore., and Snyder Roofing of Washington LLC, Snohomish, Wash., have won the 2010 CNA Leadership in Safety Award presented by CNA Insurance Cos., Chicago.

According to Snyder Roofing of Oregon, the company is the first CNA Insurance client in Oregon to receive the award, which recognizes the company for developing a successful safety culture. Separate awards were presented to Snyder Roofing of Oregon and Snyder Roofing of Washington.

"Snyder Roofing is committed to safety," says Ron Newton, Snyder Roofing and Sheet Metal Inc.'s president. "Our commitment to an accident- and drug-free workplace is evidenced by the continual innovations made in roofing equipment, installation practices and proactive safety programs."

IKO has relaunched its North American website, www.iko.com. The site features a photo gallery and the company's ROOFViewerâ„¢ shingle selection tool, which allows users to create a virtual home and sample different shingles.

Metal-Era Inc. has launched an RSS feed designed to keep the metal roofing industry updated regarding latest industry news and product developments. Users can subscribe at www.metalera.com.

Roofmaster Products Co. has updated www.roofmaster.com; users now can search the website by product, product category or parts number and can download a PDF format of the company's 2010 catalog.

BuildSite enters partnership

BuildSite LLC, Oakland, Calif., has entered an independent software vendor relationship with Meridian Systems, Folsom, Calif.

The partnership allows BuildSite submittals to be integrated with Meridian System's Prolog project management software. Prolog users can link to required construction product data from BuildSite's comprehensive database of product and technical information. BuildSite's database features more than 20,000 products from more than 350 manufacturers; this information can be linked directly into Prolog's submittal register.

"The submittal process is mired in paper and requires redundant data entry, ultimately wasting time, money and paper," says Bruno Berti, Meridian Systems' senior director of product management. "Prolog and BuildSite together combine best-in-class project management software with a single source of building product information."

RRCI elects officers

The Reflective Roof Coatings Institute (RRCI) named its new officers during the RRCI 2010 Annual Meeting.

Penny Gift, product manager for Republic Powdered Metals Inc., Medina, Ohio, was named RRCI president; Tim Leonard, chief executive officer of ERSystems Inc., Rockford, Minn., was named president elect; and Kate Baumann, marketing director for Mule-Hide® Products Co. Inc., Beloit, Wis., was named secretary/treasurer.

Up the ladder

Gastonia Sheet Metal Works Inc. has named Richard Bogart a project manager for its commercial HVAC division.

MAGE SOLAR® Inc. has named Theresa Baltimore senior marketing manager for its North American market.

Cooley Group has appointed Eric Muller national sales manager for Cooley Building Products.
