Roofing Solutions receives award

Roofing Solutions, Prairieville, La., has been selected as a winner in ENR Texas & Louisiana magazine's 2015 regional Best Projects competition. Roofing Solutions received an award for Best Project in the Specialty Contracting category for reroofing the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas, New Orleans.

Roofing Solutions installed a lightweight insulating concrete roof system to replace the existing 65,000-square-foot roof system that had been patched and repaired for years following damage caused by Hurricane Katrina. The new roof system provides a higher R-value, has a low carbon footprint and is more energy-efficient.

Roofing Solutions workers prevented moisture from entering the aquarium while working around multiple roof-penetrating life support units, chillers and other mechanical systems. The crew structured its schedule to accommodate aquarium visitors by working on the project during the night and in the early morning hours from highly constricted access points to allow normal aquarium operations to continue.

All the competition winners were invited to Houston to receive recognition by ENR Texas & Louisiana magazine at an event Dec. 8.
