What is your position within your company?
I am vice president of operations for CRS of Monroe Inc., Monroe, N.C.

What is the most unusual roofing project you've performed?
I don't know whether I would classify any roofing project as the most unusual, but a project we performed on a helipad was challenging because helicopters were constantly taking off and landing 10 feet above us.

What is your most memorable roofing experience?
Unfortunately, the most memorable experience was an accident we had on a job site and the telephone call we received from the doctor after the accident.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A basketball coach

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy spending time with my family, hunting, and working on my 1956 and 1966 FordĀ® pickup trucks.

I like any old Western movie.

If you could invite any three people (dead or alive) to dinner, whom would you invite and why?
I would invite my two grandfathers and my uncle. Two have passed away, and the other has Alzheimer's. They helped me grow into the person I am.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I would go to Australia and/or New Zealand.

What is the most challenging aspect of your job?
The most challenging aspect of my job is finding good employees who actually want to work.

What is your favorite part of your job?
Each day presents new challenges.

What is your roofing industry involvement?
I am a director for the Carolinas Roofing and Sheet Metal Contractors Association Inc., and I serve on NRCA's Manual Update Committee.

Do you have any advice for people new to the roofing industry?
There is nothing you can't do or fix. Listen and ask questions to the older generations; their knowledge is priceless and irreplaceable.
