What is your position within your company?
I am human resources manager for AAA Roofing by Gene Inc., Riverside, Calif.

What is the most unusual project of which you have been a part?
We completed a tricky roof system installation on Westfield North County, a shopping mall in Escondido, Calif. We needed an 80-ton crane to transport materials from different points on the site because of limited access. Overall, it was a fun project to see from start to finish.

Why did you become involved in the roofing industry?
Roofing has been all I’ve known since I was born. My dad owns AAA Roofing by Gene, and I can remember going up on roofs with him when I was a little girl. I decided to join his team after college, and I have loved every challenging moment of it.

What was your first roofing experience?
When I was about 7 years old, my dad took my sister and me onto a roof. We climbed a huge ladder and walked across the roof, making sure everything looked good. I still remember my sister and me wearing hard hats and oversized safety vests that day.

What is your roofing industry involvement?
I currently am enrolled in Class 9 of NRCA University’s Future Executives Institute. I also am involved with the Orange County chapter of National Women in Roofing.

What song are you listening to over and over?
“Tiny Dancer” by Elton John

What is the most high-tech item in your house?
iRobot Roomba. I can now read a book while my floors get cleaned.

What quality do you most admire in a person?
The ability to stay calm during stressful or difficult times

What is your favorite stress reliever?
Yoga!

People would be surprised to know ...
I am in the process of writing my first book. I’ve always believed I was destined to tell my story to the world.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Why?
If I had it my way, I would travel the entire world and not work. Being that is not the case, I would love to go to South Africa and spend time on a safari.

If you could meet any historical figure, whom would you meet? Why?
Elvis Presley—I just love everything about his music.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I’m pretty sure I wanted to be a doctor, but the roofing industry called my name instead.

What is your favorite food?
In-N-Out all day, every day!

My favorite part about working in the roofing industry is ...
The people. I have met some of the most amazing people in this industry, and I love the relationships that keep forming throughout my career.

What’s your favorite roofing material to work with? Why?
TPO because it’s a preferred and viable option for many building owners. With its lightweight and flexible properties, it also is much simpler to install. Less time spent installing translates into direct savings for us.

What’s the most exciting/adventurous thing you’ve done?
I traveled around Europe by myself for 35 days. It was a rewarding experience, and I learned so much about myself and other cultures.
