Joint filler protects building envelope

W.R. MEADOWS Inc. has introduced AIR-SHIELD JOINT FILLER to its AIR-SHIELD line of air barriers.

AIR-SHIELD JOINT FILLER is a pre-mixed, cold-applied, single-component joint filler designed to fill exterior sheathing joints in applications using AIR-SHIELD LM and AIR-SHIELD LMP water-based air barrier products, as well as standard AIR-SHIELD peel-and-stick membranes. The joint filler is said to create a cohesive, seamless seal between joints in exterior sheathing. It reportedly applies easily and completely protects a building envelope when used with the AIR-SHIELD line of fluid-applied air barriers.

Pipe boot accommodates pipe movement

OMG Roofing Products has introduced its QuadFlash pipe boot, which reportedly provides a fast, efficient option for sealing rooftop pipe penetrations.

QuadFlash pipe boot is said to accommodate building vibration and pipe movement to provide a permanent flashing solution that is watertight and maintenance-free. The boot is made from spun aluminum and can accommodate up to four pipes ranging in size from 1/4 of an inch to 2 inches in diameter. It features EPDM caps that reportedly resist weathering, ozone damage and ultraviolet light. The caps also remain flexible in extreme temperatures.

Manual features updates

The Aluminum Association has introduced its Aluminum Design Manual 2010, a comprehensive, updated resource for professionals who use aluminum in structural applications.

Aluminum Design Manual 2010 includes new and revised provisions concerning safety and resistance factors; design for stability and combined stresses; shear strength of tubes; screw pull-over; screw slot pull-out strength; evaluating existing structures; axial compressive strength of complex cross sections; fatigue strength of light poll bases; members subject to torsion; local buckling strength of welded elements; design for fire conditions; and design braces.

The Aluminum Design Manual 2010 also includes an index, glossary and illustrative design examples.

Adhesive resists water

The Garland Co. Inc. has introduced its White-Star adhesive technology, a single-component, aliphatic polyurea liquid adhesive that reportedly can be used with gravel for new roof systems or to upgrade and restore existing smooth or mineral-surfaced roof systems.

White-Star adhesive technology is applied using airless spray equipment or a roller, and gravel reportedly can be applied to a roof immediately after the adhesive has been applied. The resulting surface is said to resist fire and water and reduce a building's energy needs.

Roof tiles resist degradation

MonierLifetile® has introduced concrete roof tiles in colors that reportedly meet the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design's reflectivity requirements.
