New metal roof system colors available

Firestone Building Products Co. LLC has added seven colors to its metal roof system portfolio. Aged Zinc, Antique Copper, Burnished Slate, Natural Antique Copper, Natural Rust, Vintage and Weathered Zinc expand customers' options during the design of metal roof systems for commercial buildings. Firestone Building Products' metal roof systems reportedly are sustainable and available in a variety of finishes.

Membrane roof system has tinted resin

Kemper System America Inc. has introduced its Kemperol® 2K-FR cold liquid-applied membrane roof and waterproofing system with "thru color." Designed to protect low-slope roof systems, Kemperol 2K-FR is derived from Kemper System America's Kemperol Reflect 2K-FR system. Kemperol 2K-FR is said to eliminate the need for a color topcoat because the polyurethane resin is tinted throughout, reducing installation time. Intended for use on new or existing low-slope roof systems, the Class A fire-rated, odor-free, fully reinforced system is available in Stone Gray or Patina Green.

Harness helps reduce suspension trauma

Werner Ladder has made available its ProForm™ F3 harness. Constructed from lightweight materials for maximum comfort, the harness features relief cords a user can pull after a fall to deploy a built-in seat and achieve a sitting position, which is said to reduce suspension trauma. A user also can reposition the harness's dual back pad system after a fall to reduce pressure on his or her clavicles. The ProForm F3 harness reportedly is weather-resistant and features gear loops for the connection of tool lanyards, quick-connect buckles with indicators and roll-down torso web keepers to store excess webbing.

Laminated shingles are impact-resistant

TAMKO® Building Products Inc. has added Heritage® IR shingles to its Heritage line of laminated asphalt shingles. Heritage IR shingles reportedly comply with UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance to help protect houses from storm damage. Designed to imitate the look of wood shakes, the shingles are available in Rustic Black, Rustic Slate, Thunderstorm Grey and Weathered Wood.

Work light emits 5,000 lumens

DEWALT® has made available its 20V MAX Tool Connect™ All-Purpose Light, an LED light that emits 5,000 lumens of natural white light. When powered by a 20V MAX 6.0Ah lithium ion battery, the light reportedly runs for up to 11 hours on its lowest setting. The light has three variable brightness settings, and a user can adjust the settings via Bluetooth® through the free TOOL CONNECT app. Weighing only 8.6 pounds, the 20V MAX Tool Connect All-Purpose Light also features an impact-resistant lens and durable "roll cage" design. The light is said to be dust- and water-resistant and can be hung up, tripod-mounted or used freestanding.

Cover strip installs without welding

Carlisle SynTec Systems has introduced its Sure-Flex PVC Pressure-Sensitive Cover Strip designed to strip-in flat metal edgings. The cover strip is constructed from a 35-mil nonreinforced ketone ethylene ester flashing laminated to a 35-mil fully cured, pressure-sensitive, synthetic rubber adhesive. Sure-Flex PVC Pressure-Sensitive Cover Strip reportedly is compatible with a variety of metal finishes and installs easily without welding. The cover strip is available in white, gray and tan in rolls measuring 6 inches wide and 100 feet long.

Granule-enhanced cap sheets are reflective

SOPREMA® Inc. and 3M® have introduced SOPRALENE® SG and ELASTOPHENE® SG polymer-modified bitumen cap sheets enhanced with 3M Highly Reflective Granules. Designed to increase a roof system's reflectivity, the lightweight cap sheets are bright white and reportedly have an initial solar reflectance index of 80 and an aged solar reflectance index of 75. SOPRALENE SG and ELASTOPHENE SG cap sheets also feature robust opacity to protect a roof system's asphaltic layer, extending the life of the roof system, and require minimal maintenance.

Tiles imitate cedar shake

DaVinci Roofscapes® has added DaVinci Select Shake roof tiles to its line of shake products. Designed to imitate the look of traditional cedar shakes, the roof tiles are available in 8- and 10-inch widths and are 22 inches long and 5/8 of an inch thick. The 10-inch-wide roof tiles reportedly have a simulated keyway to give the appearance of 4- and 6-inch-wide shakes placed together. DaVinci Select Shake roof tiles are available in Aged Cedar, Autumn, Black Oak, Chesapeake, Mossy Cedar, Mountain, Tahoe and Weathered Gray.

Skylight installs on low-slope roof systems

VELUX® has made available CurveTech Skylights designed for low-slope roof systems. The skylight features a curved edge-to-edge glass cover said to allow water to disperse off the glass even if installed on a roof system with no slope. The skylight's base is an insulated PVC curb that can be topped with a CurveTech cover or polycarbonate dome. A protective cover reportedly helps keep the double-glazed skylight's inner pane warm. CurveTech Skylights can be installed on roof systems with slopes from 0:12 to 3:12.
