Coping is easy to install

The W.P. Hickman Co. has launched its Permasnap® 2 Coping product line. Underwriters Laboratories Inc. has classified the coping's design to meet SPRI/FM 4435/ ES-1, "Wind Design Standard for Edge Systems Used with Low-Slope Roofing Systems."

Compared with the previous coping's design, Permasnap 2 Coping reportedly installs more easily, provides improved aesthetics and costs less. The snap-on coping system reportedly allows for concealed fasteners and interior splice plates that require no sealant to permit full thermal cycle movement at each joint without compromising roof perimeter integrity.

Permasnap 2 Coping's profile has a new spring clip design said to provide strong uplift performance; the cleats are notched to provide a visual and tactile reference for placement and proper splice plate alignment. It reportedly can be fabricated in fully welded radiuses to fit curved or arched walls.

Online tool helps with cool roof color selection

PPG Industries has launched an online tool at coolcolorsdatabase.ppg.com to help architects and building owners select a cool roof coating color based on reflectance for new and retrofit building projects.

Site users can compare cool roof coating colors—many registered with ENERGY STAR® or the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC)—by searching the cool colors database by product code, product name, color description, L*a*b* color space value, solar reflectance, thermal emittance, solar reflectance index, or ENERGY STAR and/or CRRC listing.

Based on the criteria the user provides, the selector tool creates a report with data tables and color swatches for all matching cool roof coating colors. Users also can review the full ENERGY STAR- and CRRC-listed cool roof colors menu from PPG Industries by clicking the search button.

Full-body harness provides improved fit

Capital Safety has added a full-body harness to its Delta™ harness line from Capital Safety's DBI-SALA brand.

The harness is said to offer an improved ergonomic fit, lightweight buckles and high-strength webbing.

The 420-pound capacity full-body harness reportedly has a soft, breathable interior and a comfort hip pad to help support the user's back and hips while carrying heavy loads. It uses Delta's No-Tangle™ triangle pattern, which creates a frame that allows the harness to fall into place when worn.

The Delta harness also offers DBI-SALA's I-Safe™ identification tag and rip-stitch impact indicator, which shows whether the harness has been compromised in a fall.

Additionally, Capital Safety has launched its new line of Rebel™ Self-Retracting Lifelines (SRLs). The Rebel SRL line from Capital Safety's PROTECTA brand is said to feature an ultra-durable product design, increased weight capacity, high-tech safety features and more options to meet specific customer needs.

Rebel SRLs reportedly can accommodate up to 420 pounds, are available in aluminum or composite housing models, and range in length from 6 to 100 feet.

Induction weld system eliminates need for fasteners

Duro-Last® Roofing Inc. has introduced its Duro-Bond™ Induction Weld System, a mechanically attached roof system installation option using nonpenetrating induction weld technology.

Induction welding bonds Duro-Last's PVC membrane to a specially coated fastening plate beneath the roof membrane; the same plate also fastens insulation and recovery board materials to the roof deck. With the Induction Weld System, seam and tab fasteners are unnecessary. The installer can determine the number of fasteners required to achieve the desired wind-uplift rating and spread them across the roof in a grid pattern.
