New roof accessories introduced

OMG Roofing Products Inc. has introduced four new products: the OlyBlok metal nailer system; 12-gauge, 100-foot RhinoBond power cord; PowerGrip Plus roof mount system; and RedLine AFR™ Roof Drain.

OlyBlok is the industry's first engineered metal nailer system, replacing traditional wood nailers. The 20-gauge galvanized steel system reportedly eliminates concerns about fastener corrosion in ACQ-treated wood; will not rot, deteriorate or mold; has pre-punched 10-foot sections; and provides a square retainer for rigid insulation or lightweight insulating concrete. The nailer system is compatible with most commercial roof systems and deck and insulation types and is available in a variety of heights and widths.

The nailer system also is available in different configurations, including as a box nailer, canted, cleated, or canted and cleated, and can be used with fascia from Hickman Engineered Systems. The nailer system can be customized to conform to nonstandard designs and also is available with optional end caps and finishing and closing strips.

The RhinoBond power cord is to be used with RhinoBond Induction Welding tools and is red to coordinate with RhinoBond tools. The cord has a green light in the female connection to indicate continuous ground monitoring in use and an amber light in the male connector to indicate power in the cord and outlet. The cord is printed with OMG's telephone number and website for additional customer support.

The PowerGrip Plus roof mount system is a watertight structural attachment system used to secure ballasted solar racks and other equipment, such as pipe supports, step cross-overs, raceways, satellite dishes, small antennas and HVAC applications, to TPO and PVC membranes. The units offer tensile strength of 2,000 foot-pounds (lbf) and shear strength of 1,075 lbf. The units reportedly are easy to install and reduce rack movement.

The unit comes with a wide membrane skirt to promote easy welding in place; a 1 5/8-inch diameter and 1/2-inch-tall mount for optimal perching for securing brackets or struts; and an exposed 1-inch-tall and 3/8-inch diameter bolt and mounting stand made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel and aluminum alloy.

The RedLine AFR Roof Drain is a tool-free system that allows flow for gravity-based, open channel roof drainage systems. The system can be activated by hand, reportedly creating a perfectly symmetrical watertight connection, and preventing over or under tightening during installation. The system's design features the RedLine AFR Vortex Breaker and has been tested for maximum allowable flow to minimize the danger of creating pressurized flow.

The system is designed to perform at specific gallons per minute levels based on plumbing recommendations and exceeds ANSI/SPRI RD1, "Performance Standard for Retrofit Roof Drains." The one-piece seamless body has a heavy-duty cast aluminum strainer dome and clamping ring; a 10-inch-long drain stem that can be field-cut or obtained in longer lengths if needed; an extra-large flange to allow positive attachment of roof flashing membranes; and flanges available with TPO or PVC coatings for hot-air welding.

New ventilation product line

CertainTeed Corp. has introduced a new roof ventilation product line, including CertainTeed Ridge Vent and CertainTeed Rolled Ridge Vent. The products are designed with an external baffle to deflect wind and weather over the vent, have a black finish, reportedly provide excellent weather protection and prevent premature deterioration by continuously moving air year-round. The line also includes a Class A fire-rated vent.

The CertainTeed Ridge Vent is made of a co-polymer and is available in 7, 9 and 12 inches in filtered and unfiltered options. The ridge vents feature reinforced ribs, imprinted slot guides, and nail holes and lines.

In addition, CertainTeed has introduced SMARTBATT™ with MoistureSense™ Technology, the industry's first kraft paper-faced fiberglass batt insulation. The insulation uses a vapor retarder that adapts to moisture levels in wall cavities, reducing mold and mildew growth by blocking moisture from entering in low humidity levels and allowing the wall to breathe in high humidity levels. The insulation is ideal for any space traditional kraft insulation is used and can adapt from being almost completely closed during winter months to fully open in the summer. The insulation eliminates the need for two-step installation; is available in R-values ranging from R-13 to R-39; and is composed of two-thirds less asphalt, sand, pre- and post-consumer recycled glass and a sustainable, plant-based binder that contains no added formaldehydes, acrylics, dyes or unnecessary fire retardants. The insulation is GREENGUARD Gold Certified for low chemical emissions.
