Kneeling pad is reflective

Ergodyne has added ProFlex® 385RF Large Kneeling Pad with Reflective Edge to its Kneeling Pad product line. The kneeling pad features silver reflective stripes to increase a worker's visibility. It is made of silicone-free nitrile butadiene rubber and a closed-cell foam that is nonconductive and resistant to petroleum-based substances, such as oil, fuel and other chemicals.

Additionally, Ergodyne has addded three Arsenal® PALS Pouches to its Arsenal Pouch Attachment Ladder System (PALS) series: Arsenal 5580, Arsenal 5581 and Arsenal 5582.

The new pouches, which are compatible with the Arsenal 5510 Industrial MOLLE Vest, offer storage for hydration, tools and equipment. When used with the Arsenal 5510 Industrial MOLLE Vest or a standard belt, PALS reportedly provides an ergonomic solution to keep workers productive and safe while on the job.

Arsenal 5580 PALS Water Bottle Pouch holds a variety of water bottles, including Ergodyne's Chill-Its® 5151 Wide Mouth Water Bottle. It also features a side pocket for powder-mix packets and other items.

Arsenal 5581 PALS Water Bottle Pouch features a 1-liter hydration bladder to help keep a worker hydrated when he or she is away from a water source.

Safety strip is easy to install

Firestone Building Products Co. Inc. has introduced QuickSeam Yellow Safety Strip, which complements its full line of QuickSeam rooftop accessories. The safety strip is a nominal 30-mil-thick yellow TPO membrane laminated to a white, cured seam tape. It is 51/2 inches wide and 100 feet long and packaged one roll per carton.

QuickSeam Yellow Safety Strip can be used to identify areas of concern, such as roof edges, rooftop equipment, photovoltaic rooftop energy systems, daylight or skylight systems, vegetative roof systems, expansion joints and drain sumps. It reportedly is easy to install and provides a weld-free application for Firestone Building Products' UltraPly™ TPO.

Additionally, Firestone Building Products has introduced its UltraPly TPO XR 135, which complements the company's full line of fleece-backed UltraPly TPO roof membranes and accessories.

UltraPly TPO XR 135 is a flexible, 80-mil-thick TPO roof membrane produced with a polyester weft-inserted reinforcement and an 8-ounce polyester fleece backing. It is available in a 10-foot-wide by 50-foot-long roll. The membrane is chlorine-free and flame-retardant. Its reflective white surface reportedly can reduce overall cooling costs in certain environments.

Slate color line is diverse

GAF has introduced its TruSlate® color line, which features colors from GAF's Americana Collection—meadow green, charcoal, autumn dusk, antique purple and rustic red—and International Collection—greystone, mystic grey and onyx black.

TruSlate reportedly offers a diverse color palette of S1-grade slates. Building owners can select one TruSlate color for a whole roof system or mix and match colors.

Software streamlines construction process

H.I. Technologies has introduced Contractor Rush software, which reportedly helps contractors run a more efficient business by allowing them to track leads, estimates, labor, material orders, homeowner documents, contractor completion certificates and warranties.

Contractor Rush can track accounts payable and administrative tasks, follow up on outgoing information and control leads. In addition, homeowners can view estimates at the same time the salesperson enters them.

Adhesive formula dries quickly

Mule-Hide Products Co. Inc. has introduced an improved formula for its Low VOC Bonding Adhesive for use with EPDM and TPO roof systems.

The new formula reportedly dries in half the time of the previous formula. It also is said to be freeze-resistant. In tests, pint-sized cans of Low VOC Bonding Adhesive stored at 10 F did not solidify after 50 days.

Damper is automatic

Lancer United Inc. has introduced the Turbine Boss, an automatic damper for turbine attic ventilators. The damper is a plastic automatic assembly that closes during cold weather (40 F) and opens in warm weather (80 F). Because the damper is powered by temperature, it reportedly does not need batteries.

The Turbine Boss fits inside a 12- or 14-inch turbine vent's metal cylinder. It reportedly restricts winter suction by 80 percent, stops winter heat loss and vents attic moisture. Underlayment is breathable

USP Underlayment Specialties Plus has introduced its SRP AirOutshield™ Roof, a breathable underlayment composed of multi-layered, spun-bonded polypropylene.

SRP AirOutshield Roof is used as a secondary drainage plane under metal, copper, zinc, slate, cedar, tile and other roof system types. The underlayment's breathability reportedly allows moisture within the roof system to dry quickly, reducing mold, mildew, rot and corrosion. It is said to be tear-, rip- and puncture-resistant, and its polypropylene composition reportedly provides resistance to high temperatures.

Bases are laser-cut

Thybar Corp. has introduced laser-cut bases for rooftop equipment. Each base is custom-manufactured because of varying specifications of rooftop units and roof system configurations.

Each base has a welded construction and reportedly can be shipped to a job site in one piece. If it cannot be shipped in one piece, all corners are welded and the number of pieces are kept to a minimum.

Rhino Linings Corp. has introduced three spray polyurethane foam (SPF) products to its insulation product line: DuraTite™ 2.0, BioSeal™ 3.0 and BioSeal 6.0.

DuraTite 2.0 is a 2-pound closed-cell insulation. It reportedly can be applied on cold substrates and features 3 percent bio-based content and 3 percent pre-consumer recycled content.

BioSeal 3.0 and BioSeal 6.0 are water-blown, closed-cell SPF sealants. BioSeal 3.0 and BioSeal 6.0 feature 16 and 17 percent, respectively, rapidly renewable bio-content.

NRCA releases construction details manual

NRCA has released The NRCA Construction Details Manual—2013 and The NRCA Construction Details CD—2013.

The NRCA Construction Details Manual—2013 contains 564 construction details found in all four volumes of The NRCA Roofing Manual series, including details for built-up, polymer-modified bitumen, single-ply, metal panel, spray polyurethane foam, asphalt shingle, clay and concrete tile, slate, wood shingle, and wood shake roof systems, as well as architectural metal flashing systems.

The NRCA Construction Details CD—2013 complements The NRCA Construction Details Manual—2013 and contains customizable details from The NRCA Roofing Manual. The CD can be used with AutoCAD® software to customize plans to fit specific project needs.

Program discusses material handling rules

NRCA has introduced NRCA Material Handling Series: Overhead and Understood, a comprehensive training program with five modules designed to provide thorough explanations and illustrations of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA's) rules related to a variety of material handling equipment, such as cranes, conveyors, hoists, forklifts and all-terrain vehicles.

The series provides OSHA-mandated training required for signal persons and riggers involved with crane and hoist operations and in-house certification of forklift operators performing work at the company warehouse, shop and job site.

The NRCA Material Handling Series: Overhead and Understood package, which includes five modules and two handbooks, is $395 for NRCA members and $790 for nonmembers.
