Cordless saw cuts in tight spaces

DEWALT® has added the 9" 60V MAX Cut-Off Saw to its FLEXVOLT® System of cordless tools. Featuring a brushless motor capable of achieving 6,600 RPM, the saw has a 3 1/4-inch depth of cut that allows a user to make single-pass cuts and scores in concrete and steel. A rotatable, five-position guard reportedly enables a user to select an approach angle that provides optimal visibility when cutting in tight spaces. The saw also features a front handle that can be held in three positions for horizontal and vertical cutting, an all-metal drivetrain for durability and a dual-sided water delivery system for dust management. A latched battery box and sealed on/off switch are said to provide protection from harsh job-site conditions, and a heavy-load indicator light provides a user with power and runtime feedback during demanding applications.

Fasteners perform in extreme environments

East Coast Fasteners & Closures Inc. has introduced its Ply-Lo Extreme line of low-profile, metal-to-wood fasteners. The fasteners feature fast drilling technology for use with a battery-operated screw gun and are available in three standard sizes. Ply-Lo Extreme #10 Extended fasteners are designed for post-frame attachment and are available in lengths of 1, 1 1/2, 2, 2 1/2 or 3 inches. Ply-Lo Extreme #12 fasteners secure metal panels in place and are said to prevent panel separation in extreme environments. Ply-Lo Extreme #14 fasteners reportedly are designed for use on larger buildings and as replacements in extreme environments. Ply-Lo Extreme #12 fasteners and Ply-Lo Extreme #14 fasteners are available in lengths of 1 1/2, 2, 2 1/2 or 3 inches. All Ply-Lo Extreme fasteners reportedly meet ASTM salt-spray standards.

S-5!® has made available its PV Kit 2.0,® an improved kit designed to help users save time during direct-attachment solar panel system installations. PV Kit 2.0 contains preassembled components and reportedly requires only one tool to install solar modules. The same kit can be used to install multiple modules, and the kit's improved disk design is said to work with all S-5! clamps and exposed-fastened brackets.

Hoist places user away from load

Safety Hoist Co. has made available its EH-250 and EH-500 electric material hoists. The EH-250 hoist has a load-bearing capacity of 250 pounds, and the EH-500 hoist can accommodate up to 500 pounds of materials, such as roofing shingles and insulation. The hoists' pendant controls enable users to operate the hoists from a safe distance, and an emergency brake reportedly will hold the hoist carriage in place if electricity is lost during operation. Each hoist has three 8-foot ladder sections, one 4-foot section of track and a multipurpose carrier for efficient load delivery.

Underlayment is slip-resistant

InterWrap® Inc. has introduced RhinoRoof® Granulated Self-Adhered Roofing Underlayment. The synthetic underlayment can be installed as a slip-resistant surface material on roofs of varying slopes. Featuring a 3-inch taped selvage edge and a polymer-modified asphalt backing, the underlayment's granulated surface reportedly acts as a waterproof barrier. A split sheet peel-away release liner enables easy installation during temperatures between 40 F and 75 F. RhinoRoof Granulated Self-Adhered Roofing Underlayment is available in a shrink-wrapped poly-sleeve that protects the product from damage and allows easy transport at job sites.

Roofing panels are hail-resistant

Euroshield® Roofing has made available Vermont Slate SC roofing panels. The panels feature "solid core" technology said to improve hail resistance. The five-section panels have 9-inch exposures and are designed to install at the same pace as asphalt shingles. Vermont Slate SC roofing panels imitate the look of natural slate and are available in black, brown and gray.
