The Tile Roofing Institute (TRI) has introduced its TRI Disaster Relief Playbook, which reportedly helps roofing contractors respond to reroofing demands following major weather events.

The TRI Disaster Relief Playbook includes customizable press releases, feature stories, public service announcements, a directory of local Red Cross disaster relief organizations, and guidelines for sending information to broadcast and print media. The playbook's information also warns roofing customers about unprofessional roofing contractors.

Battery charger offers options

PulseTech® Products Corp. has introduced its Xtreme Charge® X2 dual-station 12-volt maintenance charger.

Xtreme Charge X2 reportedly will charge, maintain and desulfate any 12-volt, lead-acid battery. The maintenance charger is said to test batteries for as long as they are connected to the charger to determine the appropriate charge rate based on a battery's size and condition. Sealant is watertight

Sealex Inc. has introduced ImmerSeal,® a pre-cured sealant that reportedly forms a watertight seal for metal building applications, including expansion joints, roof-to-wall transitions, roof steps and ridge details.

Flashlights offer options

Stanley® has introduced its rechargeable 70-lumen Tripod Flashlight, a high-powered version of its Stanley MaxLight™ 369™ Tripod flashlight and three alkaline-powered anodized aluminum flashlights.

The Tripod Flashlight features a hands-free tripod, three-position switch and four-position rotating head and reportedly can be recharged without draining the battery. The flashlight's base, which can be wall-mounted, reportedly recharges a battery in eight hours and provides the flashlight with four hours of continuous run time.

The Stanley MaxLight 369 Tripod flashlight supplies 40 lumens of light output and has a 90-hour run time. The flashlight features a shatter-resistant lens and water-resistant body and can be powered by three, six or nine AA batteries.

Stanley's three alkaline-powered hand-held flashlights and one rechargeable hand-held flashlight are made of aluminum and said to be durable. The flashlights are available in various sizes and are powered by AAA, AA or D alkaline batteries.

Underlayment saves time

The Garland Co. Inc. has introduced its HPR® AquaShield™ self-adhering underlayment for low- and steep-slope roof systems. The underlayment is said to be lightweight and reduce installation times.

HPR AquaShield reportedly provides ice and water protection for metal, shingle, tile and slate roof systems and can be used for lining parapets, copings, caps, valleys, eaves, ridges, rakes and hips. The underlayment is made of polymer-modified bitumen and is reinforced with fiberglass. The underlayment is said to install without wrinkling or buckling and provide a suitable walking surface for steep-slope roof system applications.

Solar panels generate energy

PV Solar Planet has introduced its Sunseeker 68/136, a building-integrated solar electric generator that uses EnergyPeak technology and reportedly can be used with new roof system installations and reroofing applications.

Sealer is durable

Republic Powdered Metals Inc. has introduced GEOGARD® Seam Sealer, a single-component moisture-curing elastomeric polyurethane sealer for metal roof substrates, seams and fasteners.

GEOGARD Seam Sealer reportedly can be used as part of a coating system or as a stand-alone patch or repair option for metal, weathered single-ply, built-up, polymer-modified bitumen, polyurethane foam and concrete applications. Shingle removers are ergonomic

Underlayment can be recycled

CETCO® has introduced StrongSeal, a rubber roof underlayment that reportedly is recyclable and contains a high percentage of post-consumer recycled material.

StrongSeal is available in StrongSeal DB nail-down and StrongSeal SA self-adhering versions. Both versions reportedly provide waterproofing for traditional asphalt-based roofing products.

StrongSeal reportedly can be left exposed for up to one year. The underlayment features a nonabrasive surface that is said to eliminate the need for an additional slip sheet under metal roofing.

Storage rack increases carrying capacity

Downey Products has made available its Tonn-O-Rac™ cargo rack storage system for 2008 Chevrolet and GMC pickup trucks, including the Silverado, Sierra, Colorado and Canyon. The Tonn-O-Rac uses a soft tonneau cover that reportedly doubles a truck bed's carrying capacity.

Accessories help protect hearing

Utility knife provides control
