Life in the time of COVID-19 is exhausting—mentally, emotionally and physically. It is difficult if not impossible to escape the never-ending deluge of negative news, so this month, we are highlighting some good things that have happened in the industry this year.
Our cover story, “Heroes among us,” showcases some of the outstanding charitable work NRCA members have done. Every year, we publish a similar article, and every year, I am more amazed by the roofing industry’s endless generosity.
The other big news to share is no less remarkable. I have seen many changes during my 24-year involvement in the roofing industry, and “One of a kind,” shows how far the industry has come. Four women have joined forces to form the first certified women-owned commercial roofing company in the U.S. And they did it in the midst of a pandemic no less. These four women demonstrate other values the industry holds dear: perseverance, determination and self-motivation. Their story is one of inspiration, and I hope you enjoy reading it.
These feel-good stories make this month even more special as the industry celebrates National Roofing Week, which will be held Aug. 23-29.
