EagleView Technologies receives Industry Innovation Award

EagleView Technologies Inc., Bothell, Wash., has received the 2015 Industry Innovation Award from the Midwest Roofing Contractors Association. The award recognizes suppliers and manufacturers who have contributed to the advancement of the roofing industry through innovations and product development in the areas of safety, technology, efficiency or the environment.

EagleView Technologies was recognized for the development of its cloud-based construction software, Construct.™ The software allows contractors to convert EagleView measurements into a bill of materials using the contractors' customized material pricing. Construct also enables users to order job materials from a computer, tablet or smartphone.

GAF receives Gold Innovation Award

GAF, Parsippany, N.J., has received Home Builder Executive's Gold Innovation Award in the Asphalt Roofing Shingles category for its Glenwood™ Lifetime Designer Shingles.

The Innovation Awards honor manufacturers that have brought unique products, features or builder programs to market during the past year. GAF's triple-laminate Glenwood shingles feature a Class A fire rating from Underwriters Laboratories Inc., StainGuard® protection against the growth of algae and Dura Grip™ Adhesive to reduce the risk of shingle blow-off.

CertainTeed partners with HGTV's Scott McGillivray

CertainTeed Corp., Malvern, Pa., has partnered with Scott McGillivray, the host of HGTV's popular show "Income Property."

"Income Property" features McGillivray assisting homeowners by building income rental suites to help the owners afford their mortgages. During upcoming episodes of "Income Property," McGillivray and his construction team will have access to a variety of CertainTeed's interior and exterior building materials, including ceiling, gypsum and mold-prevention products, plus roofing, housewrap, siding, trim, railing and fence products. The partnership also includes event appearances and collaborative website and social media content.

Owens Corning announces sustainability initiatives

Owens Corning, Toledo, Ohio, has announced new renewable power initiatives and sustainability goals to decrease greenhouse gas and toxic air emissions in an effort to reduce the company's environmental impact.

Owens Corning intends to execute power supply agreements of new installed capacity that represent the largest wind power agreements reported by an industrial company; install a 2.4-megawatt solar canopy at the company's headquarters in Toledo; and meet sustainability goals to reduce greenhouse gas intensity 50 percent and toxic air emissions intensity 75 percent, based on 2010 statistics, by the year 2020.

In addition, Owens Corning has expanded product transparency across its commercial and residential product offerings to help architects, builders, mechanical engineers and specifiers meet green building certification criteria. Five new Environmental Product Declarations and six new registered material health certificates summarize product life-cycle assessments.

KPost Company's vice president passes away

McFarlin

Brent McFarlin, KPost's vice president of operations, passed away Oct. 29. He was 49.

McFarlin brought more than two decades of roofing industry experience to KPost, where his operations team achieved numerous national, regional and local awards for quality, safety and leadership. He was a 2011 graduate of NRCA's Future Executives Institute, and he was involved in several roofing associations. McFarlin is survived by his wife, Melanie; his daughters, Avery and Marlee; his father and stepmother, Robert and Charlotte; his stepbrother and stepsister; two sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

Donations may be made in McFarlin's name to Hearts and Hands, a volunteer ministry that provides food and clothing to local families in Arlington, Texas; Live Beyond Haiti, an organization dedicated to providing medical care and other necessities to people in Thomazeau, Haiti, at livebeyond.org/donate; or Christian Homes and Family Services of Abilene, an organization that offers maternity support and adoption services, at christianhomes.com/donate.

Scalo receivesPower of Work Award

Scalo Inc., Pittsburgh, has received the 2015 Power of Work Award from Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania. The award recognizes Scalo's substantial support and positive impact on workforce development within the local community.

The Power of Work Award is presented annually to employers or organizations that contribute to workforce development for individuals with disabilities or other barriers to employment. Scalo's Professional Roofing Training Program provides valuable training to individuals through a series of classes and hands-on learning. Participants who complete the program are given an opportunity for employment within the Scalo group of companies.

The award was presented to Scalo at Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania's 19th annual Power of Work Awards Nov. 18.

ABC Supply acquires distributor

ABC Supply Co. Inc., Beloit, Wis., has acquired the assets of Team Wholesale Inc., Hudsonville, Mich.

The acquisition provides ABC Supply with its second location in the Grand Rapids area. The store will continue to offer siding and windows to local contractors.

ASTM International announces award recipient

ASTM International has announced Rob Haddock, owner of Metal Roof Advisory Group Ltd. and Metal Roof Innovations Ltd., Colorado Springs, Colo., received the Carl G. Cash Award from ASTM International's Committee D08 on Roofing. An ASTM International member since 1990, Haddock received the award for his distinguished research contributions, outstanding publications and dedication to advancing building envelope technology.

CDA accepting Copper in Architecture award submissions

The Copper Development Association (CDA) has begun accepting submissions for its ninth annual North American Copper in Architecture awards program.

CDA and the Canadian Copper & Brass Development Association are seeking submissions from companies across the U.S. and Canada that have completed innovative projects using copper and copper alloys. The project categories are Restoration, New Construction and Ornamental Applications. Previous award-winning copper projects have included museums, educational facilities, single-family homes and places of worship.

Project submission forms are available at www.copper.org/applications/architecture/awards/submit. The submission deadline is Jan. 31.

Intertek Group acquires engineering firm

Intertek Group, London, a leading industry service provider, has acquired Professional Service Industries Inc., Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., an engineering and testing firm that provides services within the construction industry.

The acquisition enables Intertek Group to offer testing and assurance services to a broader range of customers throughout the U.S.

The Alliance announces new members

The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress welcomes two new members: John Embow, president of Grove Roofing Services Inc., Buffalo, N.Y., and Marc Cameron, operations vice president of Diamond Roofing, Manhattan, Kan., have joined at the Governor level. Their membership commitments entitle them to participate in project task forces established to guide the Alliance's agenda and attend semiannual meetings of the full Alliance.

CertainTeed Corp. has launched its Roofing Ventilation Calculator app, designed to provide building professionals with an accurate way to determine the amount of ventilation products needed to outfit an attic space with balanced ventilation. The app is available from the Apple App Store and Google Play.
