Focus

On a mission

About one year ago, we began the process of redesigning Professional Roofing. We started by asking ourselves: What needs to change, and why? We were committed not to change merely for the sake of changing.

We wanted to improve the magazine so it would continue to meet your needs. This realization caused us to revisit and revise our mission statement, which now reads: "Professional Roofing's mission is to inform, educate and engage readers by providing timely, useful information and focusing on quality, innovation and responsiveness to readers' needs to help every roofing professional succeed."

Once we revised the mission, all decisions regarding the redesign were driven by it.

To help you quickly find the articles you want to read, we have reformatted our table of contents to give you more information about features and columns, as well as expanded author biographies.

In addition, we have combined the former "Associate News" department with the former "Industry Briefing" department, as well as merged "Flashings" with the former "Managing Your Business." Our decision to combine the respective departments will make for a more enjoyable, faster read.

You'll also notice our popular "Capitol Corner" column, written by NRCA's Vice President of Government Relations Craig Brightup, will appear monthly with the title "Capitol Hill."

Other columns have been renamed: "Legal Corner" now is "Legal Ease"; "Risk Management" has become "Safe Solutions"; and "Technology Today" now is "Tech Today."

We also will begin offering more Web-site exclusives—additions to articles that will be available on Professional Roofing's Web site. I encourage you to take advantage of the additional information we will be providing you.

Despite the changes, our focus on quality editorial will remain our top priority, and Professional Roofing continually will evolve to meet your needs. As always, I welcome your feedback.

Ambika Puniani is editor of Professional Roofing magazine and NRCA's director of communications.
