Need workers?

NRCA launches a new job bank to help connect members to prospective employees

For several years, NRCA has been heavily investing in a variety of resources to help attract workers to the roofing industry. Although the lack of field workers is most acute, other positions up and down the industry career ladder are suffering from lack of applicants.

In late 2019, NRCA’s Industry Image and Outreach Committee spearheaded the development of a website dedicated to roofing industry careers. The website, careersinroofing.com, launched in July 2020. It offers information about career possibilities in the industry including on the roof, in the shop, office personnel, sales and estimating, and manufacturing and distribution. In addition, the site provides resources for parents and educators, as well as detailed information about the different positions in the industry.

And in June, NRCA added a job bank feature to the site. NRCA members now can set up accounts on the site to post their open positions free of charge. The site allows them to link directly to their companies’ job listings or upload PDFs of job listings and application details, as well as provide brief descriptions of available positions.

Potential employees can search by state and/or job type to find openings in their areas. NRCA will begin promoting the site through various channels, including social media ads targeted toward those who may have an interest in a roofing career, such as high school graduates, veterans, and those who attend career and technical education schools.

Although it will take a little while to build awareness of the job bank, it is poised to be a valuable resource for drawing more prospects to the roofing industry. For assistance with the job bank, please email info@careersinroofing.com.
