New roof system is versatile

Johns Manville has added a new SeamFree® PMMA Liquid Membrane roof system to its liquid roofing line.

The new roof system includes a portfolio of PMMA-based products that combine to form a membrane system that can be used in many applications, including plaza decks, garden roof systems, roof systems with many penetrations, and irregularly shaped or small roof systems.

The PMMA Liquid Membrane roof system reportedly offers excellent adhesion to a variety of substrates, including metal, wood, plastic, concrete and asphalt; can be applied in temperatures ranging from 23 F to 95 F; is rainproof within 30 minutes and fully cured in three hours; and is resistant to chemicals, ultraviolet rays, ponding water and root penetration.

In addition, Johns Manville has launched a DynaFast® product series developed from first-generation ASTM D6164 DynaLastic® platforms. The new series offers an expanded array of application and fastening options for faster installations.

The DynaFast SBS polymer-modified bitumen membranes are designed to be mechanically fastened. DynaFast 180 S, DynaFast 180 HW and DynaFast 250 HW provide an assortment of options to customize commercial roofing projects to preferred specifications such as expanded fastening options, multiple application methods and longer rolls.

Anchors are designed for low and steep slopes

FallTech has released two new Rotating Elevated Self-retracting Device (SRD) Anchors for low- and steep-slope roof systems. The rotating anchors are temporary anchors designed to fasten to wood and provide 360-degree rotation of a user's personal fall-arrest system.

The FallTech Contractor Rotating Elevated SRD Anchor is designed for use with FallTech's Contractor line of SRDs, and the FallTech Deluxe Rotating Elevated SRD Anchor can be used with all FallTech Cable SRDs less than 65 feet. The FallTech Deluxe Rotating SRD Anchor also features an additional connection D-ring attachment for alternative systems.

FallTech also has released the FallTech Chain Roof Anchor, a portable and reusable anchor for use on residential and commercial wooden roof structures. The anchor's O-ring serves as the attachment point for a personal fall-arrest or horizontal lifeline system and may be installed on a low- or steep-slope roof system's ridge or field. When attached with lag bolts and used in tandem, it can connect to a FallTech Temporary Horizontal Lifeline system.

NRCA releases single-ply manual

NRCA has released NRCA Guidelines for Single-ply Membrane Roof Systems. The publication offers NRCA's best-practice guidelines and technical information regarding the materials, design and installation of single-ply roof systems. The manual includes information about roof decks, air and vapor retarders, rigid board insulation, roof membranes, fasteners, surfacing, accessories, roof system configurations and roof re-coverings.

This most recent edition provides a new format to assist with proper product and material selection. Users initially can refer to the first chapter that contains a selection of roof system configurations. Each of the configurations has a list of applicable roof components along with references to find additional information elsewhere in the manual.

In addition, NRCA Guidelines for Single-ply Membrane Roof Systems contains all the construction details from The NRCA Roofing Manual: Membrane Roof Systems—2015 applicable to single-ply membrane roof systems.

Hard copies are available for $55 for NRCA members and $110 for nonmembers. Members also can access the publication electronically free via the NRCA app or NRCA's website.
