Cabinet protects safety equipment
KNAACK® has added the KNAACK Safety Kage™ 139-SK-01 cabinet to its line of KNAACK Safety Kage
products. Measuring 60 inches long, 30 inches wide and 60 inches high, the cabinet is designed to store
fall-protection equipment and personal protection equipment on job sites. The cabinet's interior features hooks to
hang fall-protection equipment; shelves to store hard hats, vests and gloves; and cubby holes to store smaller items
such as safety glasses and dust masks. The cabinet's exterior has protected storage spaces for a first-aid kit, fire
extinguisher and personal eye wash station. The KNAACK Safety Kage 139-SK-01 cabinet is constructed from heavy-duty
16-gauge steel panels said to protect gear from harsh weather, and the cabinet's safety-green powder-coated finish
reportedly enables users to easily locate the cabinet during an emergency.
Asphalt shingles resist wind uplift
IKO® has introduced Nordic™ heavy-duty laminated architectural asphalt shingles designed to resist
wind and impacts. Nordic shingles feature IKO's ArmourZone,® a 1 1/4-inch-wide reinforced nailing surface said to
enhance fastening power, enabling the shingles to resist winds up to 130 mph. The shingles' Fastlock™ sealant
strips also create strong bonds between rows of shingles, protecting against wind uplift and water penetration. A
coating of polymer-modified asphalt reportedly acts as a shock absorber to cushion the roof system from hail impacts.
Nordic shingles replicate the look and visual texture of wood shakes or slate tiles and are available in Brownstone,
Castle Grey, Cornerstone, Driftshake, Frostone Grey, Glacier, Granite Black, Sedona and Shadow Brown.
Fleece is available pre-cut
SOPREMA® Inc. has made available ALSAN RS Pre-Cut Fleece, a nonwoven polyester reinforcement designed for
use with ALSAN RS PMMA-applied waterproofing membrane applications. Previously available only in rolls, ALSAN RS
Pre-Cut Fleece now is available in pre-cut detail kits intended for use with small and large pipe penetrations and
corner installations. Designed to help contractors address difficult detailing and irregular shapes encountered
during waterproofing, ALSAN RS Pre-Cut Fleece is said to save contractors time cutting fleece during waterproofing
installations, reducing cutting errors and scrap waste. The fleece reportedly forms a seamless water- and
puncture-resistant flashing system over SBS polymer-modified bitumen or SENTINEL PVC roof membranes.
Shingles are impact-resistant
Atlas® Roofing Corp. has made available StormMaster® Shake and StormMaster Slate asphalt shingles with
Core4™ Enhanced Polymer Technology. The shingles feature PolyCore™ Technology said to use enhanced virgin
polymers to construct strong, long-lasting shingles; FlexCore™ Technology said to enhance shingles'
flexibility, reducing tearing and cracking; WeatherCore™ Technology said to give shingles the durability to
resist damage from hail and high winds; and ThermalCore™ Technology said to mitigate the effects of shingle
expansion and contraction during temperature fluctuations. StormMaster Shake and StormMaster Slate shingles have a
Class 4 impact rating, and StormMaster Shake shingles reportedly resist winds up to 150 mph. StormMaster Slate
shingles are available in six colors, and StormMaster Shake shingles are available in 10 colors.
Drill/driver fits in tight spaces
DEWALT® has added the 20V MAX Compact Drill/Driver to its 20V MAX System. Weighing 2.4 pounds and
measuring 6.3 inches long, the lightweight drill/driver is designed to fit in tight spaces. Powered by a 1.3Ah
battery, the 20V MAX Compact Drill/Driver reportedly has 13% more power than an average drill/driver and achieves up
to 1,650 rotations per minute. The drill/driver features an efficient brushless motor said to deliver a long runtime,
variable speed triggers, an LED work light to illuminate dark spaces and an adjustable belt hook that can be attached
on a user's right or left side.
Underlayment is self-adhering
Polyglass U.S.A., Inc. has redesigned its Polystick® MU-X self-adhering underlayment. The underlayment
features an SBS polymer-modified bitumen upper compound and self-adhering ADESO® dual-compound on the bottom
side. An enhanced black polypropylene film has been added to improve membrane walkability and reduce bleed-through.
Intended for use as a secondary water barrier for roof coverings in hot environments, Polystick MU-X has a
high-temperature rating of 250 F and reportedly can withstand ultraviolet exposure for up to 90 days. The
underlayment has a split release film on the bottom of each roll for easy application, and 3-inch lay lines are
printed on both edges of the underlayment for bidirectional installation.
