Asphalt shingles resist wind uplift

IKO® has introduced Nordic™ heavy-duty laminated architectural asphalt shingles designed to resist wind and impacts. Nordic shingles feature IKO's ArmourZone,® a 1 1/4-inch-wide reinforced nailing surface said to enhance fastening power, enabling the shingles to resist winds up to 130 mph. The shingles' Fastlock™ sealant strips also create strong bonds between rows of shingles, protecting against wind uplift and water penetration. A coating of polymer-modified asphalt reportedly acts as a shock absorber to cushion the roof system from hail impacts. Nordic shingles replicate the look and visual texture of wood shakes or slate tiles and are available in Brownstone, Castle Grey, Cornerstone, Driftshake, Frostone Grey, Glacier, Granite Black, Sedona and Shadow Brown.
