Mounting system prevents rack movement

OMG Roofing Products has introduced PowerGrip, a roof-mount system designed to secure rooftop solar racks and other equipment to TPO and PVC roof membranes.

PowerGrip reportedly provides a secure connection directly to the roof deck or structural members. Once secured and heat-welded in place, PowerGrips are said to prevent rack movement and remain watertight. They are compatible with most solar racking system types currently on the market and do not require field fabrication or assembly, reportedly saving time and labor. They also may be used with ballasted racking systems.

Each PowerGrip features a 9-inch-wide welding flange and a 1/2-inch-tall weather-resistant aluminum perch. An exposed 1-inch-tall by 3/8-inch diameter stainless-steel bolt provides a connection point for solar racks and other rooftop equipment.

PowerGrips also can be used in other roof-mounted applications, including pipe supports and hangers, step crossovers, electrical conduit and raceways, satellite dishes and small antennae, HVAC applications, and sign and wind-screen supports.

Membrane is weldable

Carlisle SynTec Systems has introduced its Sure-Flex™ PVC KEE membrane made with Elvaloy KEE (ketone ethylene ester). Elvaloy KEE reportedly provides enhanced chemical, heat and ultraviolet resistance as well as long-term weldability.

Elvaloy KEE reportedly enhances performance and extends PVC's useful life, improves low-temperature performance and helps to keep the membrane pliable and weldable. Sure-Flex PVC KEE is said to create less smoke during the seam welding process.

Additionally, Carlisle SynTec Systems has introduced its Solvent-Free EPDM Bonding Adhesive. The adhesive reportedly requires no mixing before application and is nonflammable, environmentally friendly and odorless.

Solvent-Free EPDM Bonding Adhesive is a high-strength, polymer-based, single-sided wet lay-in adhesive that offers 100 square feet per gallon coverage rate.

Carlisle SynTec Systems also has introduced the Locking Ring Lid for its bonding adhesives. The lid reportedly allows contractors to quickly and easily replace the original factory lid on Carlisle SynTec Systems' 5-gallon steel bonding adhesive pails.

Metal Sales Manufacturing Corp. has added Solar Flare crystalline photovoltaic (PV) panels and Solar Flex thin-film PV panels to its sustainable product line.

Solar Flare and Solar Flex can be used on new or existing roof systems. Solar Flare is a rigid crystalline panel that reportedly provides high-energy efficiency per area and is mounted to standing-seam panel ribs. Solar Flex is a flexible thin film with adhesive backing that attaches to a roof panel's flat pan. It reportedly has a low profile and handles shading and ambient light well.
